Matori (Japanese: マトリ Matori), also referred to as Giovanni's secretary (Japanese: サカキの秘書 Sakaki's secretary), is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime, making her debut appearance in Memories are Made of Bliss!.

In Memories are Made of Bliss!, TRDelibird ([[{{{2}}} (move)|{{{2}}}]]) arrived in Sinnoh to inform Jessie, James, and Meowth to contact Team Rocket headquarters immediately. When they did, instead of reaching Giovanni as they expected to, Matori greeted them. She informed the trio that they had to return to headquarters right away for an assignment from their Boss himself. Later, Matori delivered the files on Jessie, James and Meowth to Giovanni for review before being dismissed.

In the Best Wishes series

She appeared in In the Shadow of Zekrom!, where she informed Giovanni of the mobilization of an unknown organization in Unova.

In Enter Iris and Axew!, she told the trio that they could not use their previous Pokémon and had to capture Pokémon native to Unova, as non-native Pokémon would arouse suspicion. After the transmission, she gave Giovanni some coffee and expressed doubts about the trio's ability to carry out the mission, but Giovanni soothed her fears by expressing confidence that they would draw the unknown organization out.

Matori appeared in The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice!, Dreams by the Yard Full!, and Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!. These were all non-speaking cameo roles, where she was seen alongside Giovanni in transmissions to the trio.

In Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!, after the events of the unaired episodes which are no longer part of canon, she dismissed Jessie, James and Meowth to act on their own in Unova, telling them that Giovanni was very busy and could not give them any more missions at that time. Matori did not appear again in the Best Wishes series outside of non-speaking cameo appearances alongside Giovanni, first in Unrest at the Nursery!, and then in The Dream Continues! dressed in new clothing.

In the XY series

Matori made another non-speaking cameo appearance alongside Giovanni in A Battle of Aerial Mobility!.

She appeared again in An Explosive Operation!, receiving the trio's call to headquarters and connecting them to Giovanni.

In the Sun & Moon series

Matori appeared in a flashback in Loading the Dex!, alongside Giovanni.

Matori appeared again in The Sun, the Scare, the Secret Lair!, where she contacted the trio to confront them regarding the lack of reports on their progress in Alola. The trio tried to argue with her, only to immediately fall into line once Giovanni joined the conversation. She later warned them to file their reports regularly before ending the call. It was shown that Jessie has a dislike of her, calling her "four eyes".

Matori reappeared in Alola, Kanto! during a fantasy that Jessie has during her return to Kanto. Off-screen, she had summoned the trio back to Team Rocket HQ. She made another appearance in Deceiving Appearances!, having just finished speaking to Jessie.

Matori reappeared in SM062 alongside Giovanni, where she contacted the trio. She later contacted the trio again after the Alolan Meowth the trio had encountered earlier in the episode arrived at the Team Rocket HQ, much to the Rocket trio's surprise.

Matori appears to take her job as secretary seriously, as shown many times when she delivered the messages coming from the Team Rocket Boss to the trio. She is also seen to be faithful and deferential to Giovanni. While interacting with the Team Rocket trio, she is noticeably more cold and harsh. The trio have a combative relationship with her, though they tolerate her in Giovanni's presence. Jessie carries a particularly intense dislike for Matori, angrily calling her names such as "four eyes" and "loser locks" or (Japanese: おかっぱメガネ bob-hair glasses) in the Japanese version when she isn't around, while Meowth considers bribing her with food but quickly loses hope in this idea.

In the Sun and Moon series, Matori becomes a rival figure to Jessie, much like Giovanni's Persian to Meowth.

		Team Rocket encountered this Alolan Meowth during their time in Alola. It told them that it belonged to a number of Trainers but could not find one worthy of it, so it went on a personal quest to find a master. It manipulated Jessie and James into turning against Meowth by showing off its abilities, and also earned their favor when they realized it could use their Darkinium Z. When Giovanni and Matori contacted the trio for a report on their activities, the Alolan Meowth became intrigued by them, so it slipped away, stole Meowth's savings, and flew to Kanto to reach Team Rocket HQ, where Matori made it her assistant due to its craftiness. The Alolan Meowth plans to one day replace Persian as Giovanni's favored Pokémon. Meowth's known moves are Feint, Thunderbolt, and Scratch.

• Her name was spoken by Meowth in the original Japanese version, as well as Chinese and Indonesian dub of Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!. However, the line revealing her name is edited in the English dub.
