Drapion (Japanese: ドラピオン Dorapion) is a dual-type Poison/Dark Pokémon.
It evolves from Skorupi starting at level 40.
Biology
Physiology
Drapion is a large, purple, somewhat scorpion-like Pokémon. Its eyes are a pointed shape, with blue-colored upper portions. Drapion has two small, pointed protrusions between its eyes, and one on the back on its head. Drapion also has protrusions on its jaws, two on the upper and three on the lower, with large, fang-like, white-colored features extending from its mouth. Its body is composed of many violet-to-lavender body segments which ends with a tail with two stingers. Drapion has four segmented legs with pointed toes. Its most distinguished feature is its huge claws, which have a blue circular marking on the undersides, a similar marking being on the tail, and the fact that it can turn its head 180º.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
For its size this Pokémon is very strong, and has enough power to easily scrap a car. It's also encased in a tough exoskeleton and it is quite poisonous. It can rotate its head 180 degrees, and can also extend its tail.
Behavior
Possessing a sturdy build, it takes pride in its strength, being able to take down foes without using toxins.
Habitat
It is probably native to dry desert areas, much like Skorupi. However, it is found in Pastoria City's Great Marsh.

Trivia
- Both of Drapion's abilities revolve around critical hits. Battle Armor protects it from them, and Sniper strengthens a move that becomes a critical hit to 3× the damage instead of 2×.
- Despite evolving from Skorupi at level 40, it may be caught at level 28 in the Great Marsh.
- Drapion is the only Pokémon owned by Aaron of the Sinnoh Elite Four that is not Template:Type2, the type he specializes in. This can probably be explained because its pre-evolution, Skorupi, is part bug. Another reason may be the fact that Drapion is in the Bug Egg Group.
- Despite it being said that Drapion's habitat is the Desert, the player can't catch any in any Desert route or area.
- Drapion is able to learn all of the elemental fang-based moves, learning Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang and Poison Fang by level-up. However, Drapion is not capable of learning Hyper Fang.
Origin
Drapion appears to be based on a vinegarroon, an arachnid that resembles a scorpion.
Name origin
Drapion's name may be derived from dragon or drastic (because of its violent nature) or Dracula (because of its huge vampire-looking teeth) and scorpion. Its Japanese name may be derived from the Japanese word 'tora' (トラ) (which would become 'dora' (ドラ) in a compound word), meaning tiger, due to its striped colouration.
In other languages
- German: Piondragi - From Skorpion (scorpion), Drache (dragon), and Gift (poison).
- French: Drascore - Could be a combination of dragon and a mispelling of scorpion.
- Korean: 드래피온 Drapion
- Chinese (Taiwan and Hong Kong): 龍王蠍 Lóng Wáng Xiē - Literally "Dragon king scorpion".
