Chingling (Japanese: リーシャン Lisyan) is a Template:Type2 baby Pokémon.

It evolves into Chimecho when leveled up with high friendship during the night.

Biology

Physiology

Chingling looks like a yellow bell with small, round limbs, and an opening representing a mouth. It also has two red and white tassels. Inside its body is a red orb that creates its cry when it is agitated, much like a real bell.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

It can deafen foes by emitting high-frequency cries. Chingling also has the ability Levitate, which enables it to be unaffected by any Template:Type2 moves.

Behavior

Chingling moves with a flouncing hop. When Chingling hops, the orb in its mouth bounces all over and makes a ringing sound. It emits high-frequency cries that people cannot hear, and once it starts, it can cry for a long time.

Habitat

Diet

Trivia

  • Chingling learns Last Resort as early as level 22, much earlier than any other Pokémon who learns it through level-up.
  • Chingling is the lightest baby Pokémon.

Origin

Chingling is based on a jingle bell. The red and white rope is based on a rope found on bells used at Shinto shrines.

Name origin

Chingling may be based on an onomatopoeia for a ringing bell, and sounds somewhat similar to "jingling". It may also be based on the term "youngling". Lisyan may be based on the word listen. Its Japanese name may also be a combination of 鈴 rin, bell, as well as りんりん rin rin and しゃんしゃん shan shan, both onomatopoeias for bells ringing.

In other languages

Language Name Name Origin
German Klingplim From Klingel, also an allusion to the German comedy Klimbim, so it follows the trend started by Palimpalim.
French Korillon From carillon. The letter K may come from Eoko (Chimecho's French name).
Korean 랑딸랑 Rangttallang From 딸랑딸랑 ttalrangttalrang.
Chinese (Taiwan) 鈴噹響 Líng Dāng Xiǎng Literally "Bell rings". 鈴 is a small bell. 噹 is the onomatopoetic sound of bells. 響 means to "make a sound" or to "ring".
