The Ice Path (Japanese: こおりのぬけみちIce Path) is a four-floored cave located in the Johtoregion that connects Route 44 with Blackthorn City.
The Ice Path has numerous ice puzzles, which vary in size and difficulty, such as a Strength puzzle involving pushing boulders into holes in order to progress. It is the only place in Johto where wildSwinub, Jynx, and Delibird can be caught.

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the Ice Path looked like an average cave. It was redesigned in Pokémon Crystal, having received a completely new and unique tile set that better depicts it as an icy cave as well as changes in the features and puzzles. Its design in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver is thus modeled after the Pokémon Crystal design.
In the Generation II games, collecting HM07 (Waterfall) is optional. In the Generation IV games, an NPC found nearby will claim that the HM is his and insist that the player take it, and he will not allow the player to proceed until they have collected the item.
While the Ice Path does not appear by that name in Pokémon the Series, the Ice Cave, which serves the same role as the Ice Path, appeared in the banned episodeEP250, where Ash and his friends passed through it on their way to Blackthorn City. Along the way, they were briefly attacked by Team Rocket, who drenched them in cold water. As a result, Brock ended up catching a cold, forcing the group to stop at a Pokémon Center located within the cave, where the local Nurse Joy is aided by a Jynx rather than a Chansey. The cave is kept cold by a massive air cooler. Team Rocket attempted to steal Nurse Joy's Ice-type Pokémon by heating up the cave, but their plans were thwarted, allowing the group to move on as soon as Brock had recovered.
The Ice Path made a brief cameo appearance in All About Arceus III as one of the locations Silver and his Weavile ventured to in their search of the Plates scattered around Johto.
