Regulation Set J was a set of online battle rules in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It was used for online Ranked Battles from September 1, 2025 until January 4, 2026.
Regulation Set J was never used in official competitive play, as official competitive events continued to use other regulation sets during its run. It was notable for allowing Mythical Pokémon to be registered to teams for the first time in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles.
Ruleset
The regulation set adopts the following ruleset:
- Pokémon are automatically set to level 50 during battle.
- Pokémon may hold held items, however duplicate held items are not allowed.
- Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number may not be registered to the same team.
- Terastallization is allowed.
- Up to two restricted special Pokémon, may be registered to a team.
- Greninja with the Ability Battle Bond are not allowed.
- Timers are set as follows:
- Total time limit per game: 20 minutes
- Player timer per game: 7 minutes
- Turn time: 45 seconds
- Preview time: 90 seconds

Pokémon on the list below are eligible if they are available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, or transferable through Pokémon HOME.
Restricted Special Pokémon
The following Pokémon are considered restricted Special Pokémon, meaning that there is a combined limit of two restricted Legendary and/or Mythical Pokémon per team:
