Pokémon Japan Championships (PJCS)
The Pokémon Japan Championships runs additional online competitions in the preliminiary rounds, with a closed sign up system. Players from Japan who are within the top cut within their division from Japan in any individual Global challenge of the year are generally invented to the tournament, with a certain amount of participants in each division progressing to the finals. These competitions are generally run for a period of 6 hours, and in order to qualify onwards players also have to participate in a minimum of 10 matches and are prevented from participating in more than 20. Players who do not meet this limit are disqualified.
A second qualifier was held in the 2023 season following a decision to increase the number of participants in the PJCS tournament form 64 to 128. Players who didn't qualify from the first qualifier competition were invited to participate in this event.
Placing in the following, generated an invite to the tournaments:
- 2023 and 2024: Top 150 in the division in any of the 3 global challenges of the year (theoretical maximum of 450 players per division).
- 2025: Top 120 in the division in any of the 4 global challenges in 2025 (theoretical maximum of 480 players per division).
