Regulation Sets in Pokémon Champions

This is a chronological list of all regulation sets in Pokémon Champions. Regulation sets define the restrictions that exist in a given format of play. The regulation set used for online battles may differ from the one currently active in the VGC Circuit.

The first regulation set was introduced on April 8, 2026, coinciding with the start of Ranked Battles Season M-1. However, there was a transitional period away from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that lasted until May 31, 2026, in which Regulation Set I was also legal for certain tournaments.

The transition period to Pokémon Champions played out as follows:

April 8, 2026: Pokémon Champions released and all official online competitions are instantly relocated to the game, this includes all Pokémon Japan Championships 2026 qualifiers.
May 2-3, 2026: The 2025–26 Hong Kong Master Ball League was the final tournament in the Asia Championship Series to use Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, using Regulation Set I.
May 9-10, 2026: The 2025–26 Malaysia Master Ball League was the first tournament in the Asia Championship Series to use Pokémon Champions, using Regulation Set M-A.
May 23-24, 2026: The Melbourne Pokémon Regional Championships 2026 and Lima Pokémon Special Championships 2026 were the final tournaments in the Play! Pokémon circuit to use Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, using Regulation Set I.
May 30-31, 2026: The Indianapolis Pokémon Regional Championships 2026 was the first tournament in the Play! Pokémon circuit to use Pokémon Champions, using Regulation Set M-A.
June 1, 2026 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is no longer legal in competitive play, however may still be used in local League Cups and League Challenges for the remainder of the 2026 season.
