Drayton (Japanese: カキツバタ Kakitsubata) is a character introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. He is a second-year student^[2] attending Blueberry Academy, and a member of the BB League Elite Four. He uses Dragon-type Pokémon.

In the core series games

Drayton has a friendly and laid-back personality. Although Drayton appears unserious, he is really skilled in battling. However, he also skips class often, apparently having to repeat a year three times as a result. Drayton comes from a prestigious family and is the grandson of Drayden, the Gym Leader of the Opelucid Gym. Through his grandfather, Drayton is acquainted with Hassel of Paldea's Elite Four. He used to be the BB League Champion, though he never formally referred to himself as one due to wanting to avoid the responsibilities of being the League Club president, which come with the title. He was eventually dethroned by Kieran, lowering him to instead being the leading member of the BB League Elite Four, situated at Polar Plaza.

Drayton first meets the player at Central Plaza after they've defeated Carmine and takes them to the League Club Room, where he introduces them to the BB League. Later at the Blueberry Academy Cafeteria, he suggests to Kieran and the other Elite Four members that the player should be allowed to enter the BB League. After a vote between the five ends in the player's favor, Drayton helps them register for the BB League. Each time an Elite Four member is defeated other then himself, Drayton comes by to congratulate the player. Drayton is also the only Elite Four member who does not require the player to pay Blueberry Points to register for his Elite Trial, as he asks his receptionist to charge it to his account instead.

Drayton's Elite Trial forces the player to battle three League Club members using only Pokémon that were caught in the Terarium, which excludes any Pokémon caught in Tera Raid Battles. After the trial has been cleared, Drayton can be battled. The player does not need to use these Terarium Pokémon during their battle with Drayton. He rewards the player with TM226 (Dragon Cheer) upon being beaten.

After the player has defeated Kieran, Drayton gives them a Master Ball, following which he, along with the player, Kieran, and Carmine, are invited to Briar's classroom, where she requests that they join her on an expedition to Area Zero. While the rest accept the request, Drayton declines, claiming he needs to guide the League Club through the aftermath of Kieran's dethroning, but in reality is just feeling too lazy to travel all the way to Paldea.

After the player has caught Terapagos, Drayton can be found in the League Club Room, where he offers to rematch the player once a day.

Pokémon

Drayton's Archaludon knows Dragon Pulse in the first battle and Draco Meteor when challenged at the League Club Room. Drayton will always send out Archaludon last and Terastallize it at the first opportunity.

Upon the third unique interaction with Drayton in the League Club Room, he will trade a Duraludon to the player in exchange for almost any Pokémon excluding Shiny, Legendary, or Mythical Pokémon.

• The pattern on Drayton's cape, which is worn as a waistcloth, resembles the symbol icon that represents the Dragon type in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon HOME, and Pokémon GO.
• While not all of Drayton’s Pokémon are Dragon type, they all belong to the Dragon Egg Group.
• Drayton's Elite Trial and battle share similarities with Raihan's Gym Challenge and Gym battle in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
  • For the respective challenges prior to the boss fights, the player faces three Trainers in Double Battles who do not use Dragon types exclusively.
  • Both Drayton and Raihan use a member of the Duraludon evolutionary line as their highest-level Pokémon.
