It evolves from Chingling when leveled up with high happiness during the night.
Biology
Physiology
Hoppip painted and dressed as Chimecho, highlighting the similarity between their eyes
Chimecho is a light-blue Pokémon with a round body and short arms. Chimecho has a red stripe running across the horizontal length of its body and has yellow suction-cup-like growth on top. Like Chingling, it has a ribbon-like tail which appears to be underneath Chimecho's body instead of on top of the head like Chingling, the tail ends with a red tip. Chimecho's eyes are strikingly similar to those of Hoppip, being beady, yellow, and appearing to lack pupils.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
These Pokémon have mostly sound-based abilities such as creating soundwaves in the ultrasonic range and other noises. They use their echoing cries to attack or to communicate with others.

In the anime
Major appearances
James's Chimecho
James has a Chimecho that was obtained in Who's Flying Now? at the Fortree City Feather Carnival. It said its name in the Team Rocket motto right after Jessie's Wobbuffet, and James cherished it so much that he did not allow it to battle. In Sweet Baby James, James left his Chimecho with his Nanny and Pop-Pop to recover from illness at his old vacation home in Saffron City.
Other
Minor appearances
A Chimecho appears in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness special in the Wigglytuff Guild.
A Chimecho appeared in Mastering Current Events! under the ownership of Maya.

Trivia
Origin
Chimecho is based on a Japanese furin wind chime.
Name origin
Chimecho's name is a combination of chime and echo. On the other hand, considering Chimecho's association with feelings, the species’ name may be derived from kimochi (気持ち), a Japanese word meaning “feeling”, “mood”, or “sensation”. In fact, the species’ name may result from an alteration of the syllables and phonetic values of this term (from ki-mo-chi to chi-mi-ko). Chirean is based on ちりん chirin, the Japanese onomatopoeia of a chime and 風鈴 fūrin, wind chime.
