Description The Galar Champion, known as the unbeatable Leon, is a superstar who boasts unprecedented charisma and popularity. Rumor has it he is quite bad with directions.

Leon (Japanese: ダンデ Dande) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Charizard. The sync pair can be obtained through a limited sync pair scout, and was first available on February 26, 2021. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released, which unlocks Leon's EX Style.

Leon is also available in his sygna suit, alongside his sync pair Eternatus. The sync pair can be obtained through a limited sync pair scout, and was first available on August 12, 2021. This pair is also capable of being upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.

Leon is also available in his holiday attire partnered alongside Calyrex (Ice Rider). The sync pair can be obtained through a limited sync pair scout, and was first available on December 16, 2021. This pair is also capable of being upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.

Charizard

Raising this sync pair to 6★ EX will unlock Song Key 08003, which allows "Battle! (Leon) (Pokémon Masters EX Version)" to be played in the Jukebox.

Trivia

  • Leon shares his Japanese voice actor, Takahiro Sakurai, with his counterpart from the Pokémon: Twilight Wings miniseries.
  • Ignoring Scottie and Bettie, Leon and Allister are the only Trainers to form playable sync pairs with the same species of non-Shiny partner Pokémon as another playable sync pair's Pokémon. In Leon's case, both he and Sygna Suit Red form usable sync pairs with Charizard of regular coloration.
  • Excluding Professor Oak's Mew after using a sync move, Leon's Charizard is the first Pokémon in Pokémon Masters EX to know moves of three different types.
  • Sygna Suit Leon and Eternatus are the first sync pair capable of using max moves.
  • Leon is the second Trainer to be part of all three types of limited-time and scout-summonable sync pairs (i.e., Poké Fair-exclusive, seasonal, and Master Fair-exclusive sync pairs). The first one is Steven.
  • During the "Winter Wishes" story event, Calyrex briefly takes over Sawyer's body to talk with Leon, referencing how Calyrex frequently speaks through Peony the same way during Pokémon Sword and Shield's The Crown Tundra Expansion Pass.
  • Leon is the only Trainer who forms a sync pair that has Master passive skill with non-Legendary Pokémon.
  • Leon is the first Trainer to have three unique sets of voiced lines added to Pokémon Masters EX in one particular year. One set is connected to each sync pair that he formed in year 2021.
  • Ignoring Scottie and Bettie, Leon, Blue, and Steven are the only Trainers to form three strike sync pairs.
    • Leon and Steven are the only Trainers who exclusively formed three strike sync pairs. Blue's role becomes support when he dons his Sygna Suit.

Origin

Leon's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Charizard is Leon's signature Pokémon in the core series. Charizard's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

In the story of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Leon attempts to catch Eternatus to calm the Darkest Day, but fails. Eternatus's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Shield.

Leon does not own a Calyrex outside this game. Ice Rider Calyrex's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.
