Gabite (Japanese: ガバイト Gabite) is a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon.
|friendship=70
}}
Gabite (Japanese: ガバイト Gabite) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Gible starting at level 24 and evolves into Garchomp starting at level 48.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Gabite is a medium-sized, bipedal, dragon-like Pokémon that is primarily blue. Its underside is light blue, with red covering it from the middle of its abdomen to the bottoms of its jaw. Gabite has two appendages that resemble jets or plane engines extending out the side of its skull. Each appendage has a blue stripe. It has four fins: one on each arm, one on its back, and another on its tail. The back fin has a notch on it for the male. It has spikes on its hind limbs, and sharp claws on its feet and wrists. Its eyes have black sclerae and gold (color) colored Iris (anatomy).
Gender differences
A male has "cut" on its dorsal fin.

Special abilities
Gabite is a fierce and predatory Pokémon, known for its scales, which are believed to have medicinal properties and the ability to heal most illnesses, even those thought to be incurable. Gabite has short, extremely sharp teeth, like its pre-evolved form Gible. It has been known to move at speed. The protrusions on Gabite's head allows it to emit ultrasound waves, which can be used for navigating through pitch-dark caves. Gabite is also a very territorial creature and will fight back against enemies to protect its home. Gabite is passionate about shiny objects, such as gems, treasures, and even Carbink, and it hoards a collection of them in its nest. When it sees Sableye trying to take Carbink as food, Gabite jealously attacks the Sableye. Despite its aggressive demeanor, giving Gabite a sparkly item such as a glass bead can turn it docile. It predominantly lives in mountainous regions, and can survive in both snowy and arid temperatures.
Behavior
Has a habit of digging up gems and hoarding them in its nest.
Evolution
Gabite evolves from Gible and evolves into Garchomp.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Judging from its classification, it likely lives in warm caves, just like its pre-evolution, Gible

NPC appearances
* Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky: Gabite is the boss of the password-exclusive dungeon Labyrinth Cave, as part of a tie-in with the anime special, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness.
* Super Mystery Dungeon: Another Gabite makes its home in the deepest parts of the Drilbur Coal Mine, and is the first boss the player and their partner fight. It guards a horde of valuable gems, which the player and their partner agree to leave alone after hearing its case.

Gabite (Japanese: ガバイト Gabite) is a dual-type Dragon/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Gible starting at level 24 and evolves into Garchomp starting at level 48.

Biology

Gabite is a medium-sized, bipedal, dragon-like Pokémon that is primarily blue. Its underside is light blue, with red covering it from the middle of its abdomen to the bottoms of its jaw. Gabite has two appendages that resemble jets or plane engines extending out the side of its skull. Each appendage has a blue stripe. It has four fins: one on each arm, one on its back, and another on its tail. The back fin has a notch on it for the male. It has spikes on its hind limbs, and sharp claws on its feet and wrists. Its eyes have black sclerae and gold colored irises.

Gabite is a fierce and predatory Pokémon, known for its scales, which are believed to have medicinal properties and the ability to heal most illnesses, even those thought to be incurable. Gabite has short, extremely sharp teeth, like its pre-evolved form Gible. It has been known to move at extreme speeds.

Evolution

Gabite evolves from Gible and evolves into Garchomp.

Trivia

Origin

Gabite appears to combine traits of dinosaurian kaijus, wyverns, and different species of sharks. It may also reference landsharks, a somewhat recurring creature in fantasy settings.

Gabite also shares traits with various species of sharks, noticeably the hammerhead shark. Its Ground typing might also be a reference to ground sharks or sand sharks. It may also be based on theropod dinosaurs, particularly the Carcharodontosaurus, whose teeth are often compared to sharks' due to similar serrations and sharpness.

Gabite's behavior of collecting gems and treasures is reminiscent of European dragons, which are commonly depicted guarding a treasure hoard.

Name origin

Gabite may be a combination of がぶり gaburi (with a big bite) and bite.
