Trivia
- May was mentioned in Pokémon Masters EX before she was added into the game. In his Sync Pair Story, Brendan mentions that May focuses on Contests while Professor Birch focuses on fieldwork. She is also mentioned multiple times in Brendan's Pokémon Center lobby dialogue.
- As shown in her description, May is based on the rival in the Hoenn games with her father being Professor Birch.
- Although May's Mudkip and its evolutions are female, Marshtomp is referred to as male in the Sync Pair Story "Marshtomp's Evolution."
- May's EX outfit could be a reference to her Pokémon Adventures counterpart, Sapphire.
- According to May, she met her Lopunny while doing fieldwork with her father. Her Latias was also met during fieldwork, being attracted to her Pokéblocks.
- Prior to version 2.19.0, May (Spring 2021) exclusively used the same lines as her regular counterpart, but ever since that version arrived, they only share lines 2 and 3 in their profiles' numbered voiced samples. This version of May shares these qualities with Burgh (Spring 2021).
- May has the shortest gap between becoming playable (since January 14, 2021) and being playable in an alternate sync pair (since April 2, 2021), which totals 78 days.
- Ignoring Scottie and Bettie, May, Erika, and Marnie are the only Trainers to form three tech sync pairs.
- May and Blue are the only Trainers to form at least three Mega Evolution-using sync pairs.
- May is the first and so far only Trainer to form four.
- She is also the only Trainer with alternate-costume sync pairs to have all of hers possess this feature.
Origin
May's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Mudkip is one of the starter Pokémon of Hoenn in the core series games. Mudkip, Marshtomp, and Swampert's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ruby and Omega Ruby.
While May is not known to own a Lopunny in the core series games, Lopunny's Mega Evolution was introduced in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Lopunny's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
Latias is a Legendary Pokémon automatically obtained during the story of Alpha Sapphire. Latias's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Omega Ruby.
Blaziken is the final form of Torchic, one of the starter Pokémon of Hoenn in the core series games. In addition, May's anime and Pokémon Adventures counterparts have been depicted with Blaziken. Blaziken's Dex entry come from Omega Ruby.
