- Kotone's Johto introduction showed Clair in her Generation IV clothes.
- This is the first time that a main character receives an egg in which it hatches in the same episode.
- The episode shows many of the new Key Items within HeartGold and SoulSilver, Kazunari and his father are selling items such as Apricorns, Apricorn Cases, Berry Planters, Rage Candy Bars, and Apricorn Shakers.
- This episode, which featured Dawn getting a new Pokémon (Cyndaquil), aired close to when To Thine Own Pokémon Be True! aired in the US, which featured her releasing a Pokémon (Ambipom).
