Luxio (Japanese: ルクシオ Luxio) is an Electric-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Shinx starting at level 15 and evolves into Luxray starting at level 30.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Luxio is sometimes referred to as looking like a young lion. It has a black mane around its face, unlike its pre-evolution, Shinx. It also has two yellow rings around each of its front legs, whereas Shinx only has one around each.

Gender differences

The tufts of hair in a male Luxio's mane are longer than those of the female. Similar to Shinx, the portions of blue on a Luxio's hind legs are longer for females.

Special abilities

As Electric-type Pokémon, Luxio are capable of using moves such as Charge and Spark.

Behavior

Luxio communicate among each other using electrical pulses from their claws. They live in small groups.

Habitat

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

In the wild, Shinx, Luxio, and Luxray generally hunt for food.

In the anime

Luxio in the anime

Major appearances

Luxio appeared in the movie The Rise of Darkrai. It was among the Pokémon in the garden. Luxio seemed to be shy, as it hesitated before it ran to Ash and his friends' Pokémon. It participated in the short-lived massive fight.

In Leading a Stray!, a Luxio helped a Wailmer that was trapped in the sewers and the Wailmer made it back into the ocean safely and evolved into a Wailord.

Minor appearances

It also made a brief cameo at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Another Luxio appeared in Sticking With Who You Know!.

Pokédex entries

Episode Pokémon Source Entry
DP109 Luxio Ash's Pokédex Luxio, the Spark Pokémon. By touching friends with its front paws, Luxio is able to communicate through the sparks it emits.
This concludes the entries from the Diamond & Pearl series.

In the manga

Platinum was attacked by a wild Luxio; the Luxio had broken its claws and could no longer communicate with its pack. To regain its "touch," it defeated both Tru and Lax, but then decided that it should also fight Pearl's Pokémon. Afterwards, Pearl helps it regain its comrades' trust, and it leaves happily.

The same Luxio made a few appearances afterwards as a Luxray before it joined Pearl's team and was dubbed Rayhiko.
