Attract (Japanese: メロメロ Attract) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. It is TM45 from Generation II onwards.
Effect
If the target is the opposite gender of the Pokémon who launched the move, the target becomes infatuated. If the move is used on a Pokémon that is the same gender as the user or is genderless, it will fail.
If used by Mew or Cryogonal, the move will always fail, because they are genderless.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, all Pokémon were genderless so Attract simply infatuated the opponent. Unlike in the main games, infatuation can linger on an opponent even after the user has been defeated.
Attract took the same effect as in the main games in later Mystery Dungeon installments when genders were introduced.
