In some games, Pokémon can be disguised as fake item balls. Voltorb, Electrode, Foongus, and Amoonguss can all appear in these ways.
===Generation I=== | |||
If the player runs, defeats, or catches a wild Pokémon from an in-game event Pokémon (including Legendary Pokémon, as well as fake items), it permanently missable.
* | |||
===Generation II=== | |||
In Gold and Silver only, the Electrode in Team Rocket HQ will remain even if the player runs from them; they still disappear if the player defeats or catches them.
===Generation III=== | |||
Starting this generation, if the player runs from a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon from in-game events, the Pokémon reappears when the player leaves and re-enters its location, but other Pokémon still become permanently unavailable.
Starting in FireRed and LeafGreen, if any of the wild Pokémon unlocked from real-life events is defeated but not caught, it will reappear after the player enters the Hall of Fame. This applies to Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Deoxys in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald, as well as Mew and the Latias or Latios from Southern Island in Emerald.
===Generation IV=== | |||
| |||
There are some recurring Pokémon, which the player can catch multiple times via in-game events. They may disappear if the player flees from them or defeats them, but can be encountered again when the player meets the requirements for them to appear again. Examples include:
* Spiritomb in Diamond (which reappears whenever the player uses an Odd Keystone and meets people in the Underground 32 times)
* Lapras in (which appears every Friday)
* Drifloon in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum (which appears every Friday)
Starting in Platinum, if the player defeats or runs from any in-game event Pokémon (except the fake items), then it reappears next time the player enters the Hall of Fame.
===Generation V=== | |||
In Black and White, if Reshiram or Zekrom is defeated in battle, the player will be required to fight it again before continuing their progress in the game. However, if the party and Boxes are full, the player will be able to continue playing without this Pokémon anyway, and will be able to catch them later.
===Generation VI onwards===
| |||
If Xerneas, Yveltal, Rayquaza, or Eternatus is defeated in battle, the player will be required to fight it again before continuing their progress in the game. Catching this Pokémon unlocks the 31st Box in the Storage System, ensuring that the player will be able to catch it even if the party and all the previously available Boxes were full.

Revision as of 12:26, 2 April 2024
This is a list of wild Pokémon from in-game events. It includes battles against some Legendary Pokémon and other Pokémon visible in the overworld, as well as roaming Pokémon.
Game mechanics
Several of the wild Pokémon from in-game events are unique Pokémon (including some Legendary Pokémon), in which case no other Pokémon of the same species would appear in the current game.
In some games, Pokémon can be disguised as fake item balls. Voltorb, Electrode, Foongus, and Amoonguss can all appear in these ways.
Generation I
If the player runs, defeats, or catches a wild Pokémon from an in-game event Pokémon (including Legendary Pokémon, as well as fake items), it will not spawn again.
Generation II
In Pokémon Gold and Silver only, the Electrode in Team Rocket HQ will remain even if the player runs from them; they still disappear if the player defeats or catches them.
Generation III
Starting this generation, if the player runs from a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon from in-game events, the Pokémon reappears when the player leaves and re-enters its location, but other Pokémon still become permanently unavailable.
Starting in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, if any of the wild Pokémon unlocked from real-life events is defeated but not caught, it will reappear after the player enters the Hall of Fame. This applies to Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Deoxys in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald, as well as Mew and the Latias or Latios from Southern Island in Emerald.
Generation IV
There are some recurring Pokémon, which the player can catch multiple times via in-game events. They may disappear if the player flees from them or defeats them, but can be encountered again when the player meets the requirements for them to appear again. Examples include:
- Spiritomb in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum (which reappears whenever the player uses an Odd Keystone and meets people in the Underground 32 times)
- Lapras in Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver (which appears every Friday)
- Drifloon in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum (which appears every Friday)
Starting in Pokémon Platinum, if the player defeats or runs from any in-game event Pokémon (except the fake items), then it reappears next time the player enters the Hall of Fame.
Generation V
In Pokémon Black and White, if ReshiramB or ZekromW is defeated in battle, the player will be required to fight it again before continuing their progress in the game. However, if the party and Boxes are full, the player will be able to continue playing without this Pokémon anyway, and will be able to catch them later.
Generation VI onwards
If XerneasX, YveltalY, RayquazaORAS, or EternatusSwSh is defeated in battle, the player will be required to fight it again before continuing their progress in the game. Catching this Pokémon unlocks the 31st Box in the Storage System, ensuring that the player will be able to catch it even if the party and all the previously available Boxes were full.

Generation IV
Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum
- Main article: List of in-game event Pokémon (Diamond and Pearl)
- Main article: List of in-game event Pokémon (Platinum)
These are the wild Pokémon from in-game events in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, all of these Pokémon are permanently missable if the player defeats them, except for Drifloon, which appears every Friday after Mars was defeated for the first time, and Spiritomb, which appears every time the player uses an Odd Keystone and greets 32 players in the Underground. Starting from Platinum, the Pokémon respawn if the player defeats them and then defeats Cynthia, and therefore are not permanently missable anymore.
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the items required to catch Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus (Member Card, Oak's Letter, and Azure Flute, respectively) were never released, therefore these Pokémon are not legitimately obtainable. If the player obtains any of these items via glitches or cheating, it works as intended. However, the Member Card and Oak's Letter (but not the Azure Flute) were normally obtainable through events in Pokémon Platinum.
