A Firebreather (Japanese: ひふきやろう Fire-breathing Guy) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation II games. In Generation II they were depicted as overweight clowns spewing out flames, while HeartGold and SoulSilver redesigned them and they now wear clothing designed after Magmar.
They specialize in Fire-type Pokémon. They may, however, use Poison-type Pokémon that produce smoke, like Koffing and Weezing, as well.

In the anime
Infernando, who appeared in A Ghost of a Chance!, is based on the Firebreather Trainer class as it appeared in Generation II.
In the manga
In the Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys manga
A Firebreather by the name of Takeo appears in Let's Aim For The Goal where he signs up for a basketball tournament that marked the anniversary of the Ruins of Alph. Takeo gets through the other rounds easily and has to face off against Gold and Bugsy. Takeo got the lead at first but Totodile's Water Gun prevented Cyndaquil from getting the shot, making Gold and Bugsy the winners.

Takeo's team contains a Charmeleon, two Voltorb, Cyndaquil and Magmar. They were signed up for the basketball tournament. They were able to make it all the way through the finals but lost to Gold and Bugsy.
None of Cyndaquil's and Magmar's moves are known, Charmeleon's only known move is Flamethrower and Voltorb's only known move is Double Team.
Trivia
- Between Generations II and IV, one Firebreather got a name change from "Dick" to "Richard," likely due to the secondary meaning of the name Dick, itself a diminutive of the name Richard.
- A sprite color change in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal occurs after Dick loses a battle against the player, from red to gray.
