Flamethrower (Japanese: かえんほうしゃ Blaze Emission) is a very damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Flamethrower does damage and has a 9.8% chance of burning the opponent.

Flamethrower can't burn an opponent that has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment.

Generation II and on

Same as Generation I, but with a 10% chance of burn instead.

Cyndaquil. A red-orange flame spirals out of its mouth.

Houndoom. A yellow-red-orange flame spirals out from its mouth.

Solrock. The fire is created in the middle of its top rock. It creates orange circles around the flame.

Seviper. A red-yellow flame is released from its mouth.

Chimchar. A red-yellow flame is released out of its mouth.

Entei. A pinkish flame is blasted from its mouth in two forms: a stream or an orb.

Arcanine. Its eyes glow a firery red and a flame is blasted from its mouth.

Gyarados. A red-orange flame spirals out of its mouth.

Charmander. A red-orange flame is released from its mouth.

Charmeleon. A reddish flame is released from its mouth.

Charizard. A red-orange flame is released from its mouth.
