Dragapult (Japanese: ドラパルト Doraparuto) is a dual-type Dragon/Ghost pseudo-legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII.

It evolves from Drakloak starting at level 60. It is the final form of Dreepy.

Biology

Dragapult resembles a lizard, but with features resembling a stealth bomber plane as well. Its head is triangular, with a dark blue coloring in the center and pink coloring on the sides. It has four triangular horns, all of which are hollow inside of them. It also possesses a pair of yellow eyes. It possesses a small, lizard-like body with two short arms as well as a pair of legs, each with claw-like protrusions. Its belly is yellow, with three upside-down red V-shaped marks embedding it. Its upper body is a very dark blue, while its lower body is a light blue. It has a very long tail that composes much of its height.

Dragapult carries a pair of Dreepy inside its horns, which it will fire at its opponents like supersonic missiles during battle. It is said that the Dreepy it carries greatly enjoy being sent flying towards opponents at immense speeds. Much of Dragapult's behavior beyond this, however, remains a mystery.

Dragapult is the only known Pokémon capable of using the the move Dragon Darts.

Trivia

Origin

Dragapult may be based on the Diplocaulus, an extinct amphibian with a similarly-shaped skull. Its head also bears resemblance to a B-2 Spirit, a stealth bomber aircraft. Its name and propensity for holding and firing Dreepy may be a reference to projectile weapons, such as catapults and crossbows. These in particular were used extensively during the Middle Ages, a period of British history that is often depicted in fiction as having many live dragons.

Name origin

Dragapult and Doraparuto may be a combination of dragon and catapult.
