Abra (Japanese: ケーシィ Casey) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves into Kadabra starting at level 16, which evolves into Alakazam when traded.
Biology
Physiology
Abra is a bipedal Pokémon that loosely resembles a fox. It has two short, fox-like ears on the top of its head, and in the middle of its face, it has two eyes which are usually seen shut. It has a somewhat lighter color around its nose and mouth. Abra looks like it is wearing armor, as it has two pauldron-shaped pieces on its shoulders and and a fauld-like piece around its chest. It, like its evolutionary relatives, has three fingers on each hand, although much stubbier, and three toes, two in the front on either side, and one in the back near the ankle. It also has a tail, which is fairly thick and is the same gold color as the rest of its body, except for the brown band that is located around the top of the tail.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Possessing the ability to read minds, Abra can sense danger. When it does, it usually teleports in order to escape danger. It has been observed that once every hour, it will teleport to another location. By hypnotizing itself, it can send itself into sleep and be able to teleport while doing so. If it decides to teleport randomly, it creates the illusion of multiple copies. However, it can sometimes know some of the attacks its evolved forms know (although, they wouldn't be as strong). It also has the ability to levitate over water (though it cannot avoid moves like Earthquake), shown in the Mystery Dungeon games. Although Abra will usually flee when it is in apparent danger, they do have the ability to learn many attacks, both physical and special.
Behavior
Abra spend 18 hours a day sleeping. If it does not obtain enough sleep, it is unable to utilize its teleportation and telekinetic abilities. Despite this, Abra is capable of attacking while asleep, however, Abra usually avoid fighting by using Teleport to escape.
Habitat
Abra live in urban areas, close to humans. Mostly they are found in abandoned buildings left to disrepair. Due to these habits, they are very widespread, found in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.

Origin
It is likely based on a mystic or psychic. It also has similarities to goats and foxes, both animals with ties to magic.
Name origin
Abra's name is part of an incantation used in stage magic, Abracadabra. The Japanese names for each of the members of the Abra line are based on famous mystics. Abra's Japanese name is a reference to Edgar Cayce, a purported psychic famous for entering self-induced trances.
