African Vulture

I've tried to be polite about this but African Vulture is getting on my nerves, GrammarFreak01‎‎ and myself have tried to be nice to him (or her) but they have ignored our advice and as a result, you've had to protect Candice--BigDocFan (talk) 21:41, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

I second this concern. Not only has African Vulture (talkcontribs) edit-warred on Candice and disregarded my advice and warnings, but they are now accusing users of pushing a lie. It's concerning behavior. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 21:45, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Here are the talk page sections in question. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 21:48, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Annice Moriarty

Hello According to episoe credits on the DVDs of the Galactic Battles season, Candice is voiced by Annice Moriarty, as Kether Donohue is shown nowhere in the episode. The claim that Moriarty and Donohue were the same person does not appear to have a source. yes both voiced Lila which explains why Donohue says she did work in Pokemon. You have to be careful with pseudonyms. Remember Agatha and Rouge the Bat? I have 3 names:

  • Allyson Johnson (Agatha from Pokemon,
  • Kathleen Delaney (Rouge from Sonic), and
  • Caren Manuel (previously believed to have voiced both characters).

It was IMDB that said that Manuel was the voice of both chars. Guess what, IMDB had to sort of rethink things. Rosebr10 will agree with me. thanks. African Vulture (talk) 21:44, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Rosebr10 has not edited this wiki in four years, so they will not be coming to your defense on this issue. I'm not sure how you missed that, since their contributions stopped in 2014. We have also had Allyson Johnson listed as Agatha's voice actor from the start, so whatever's happening on IMDB is not relevant to your information. Now, to the point.
Where is your proof that Annice Moriarty isn't Kether Donohue's pseudonym? Have you asked Ms Kether to clear up the confusion? If Annice Moriarty doesn't exist on social media, you would think the quickest way to clear up Annice's name is to ask Kether if it's true or not. So when you come back and present proof from a valid source, we'll talk about clearing up the misunderstanding. And if you cannot provide a source, we have no reason to believe Kether is not Annice. I'm sorry, but your word alone is not sufficient. Kai * the Arc Toraph 22:15, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

SO wait, I have to prove the negative? I've been asking all along where it came from, and now I have to prove an unsourced claim wrong? I don't have twitter anymore as I was banned for tweeting against Uganda's president. I'm trying to figure out where you guys got the idea from in the first place, so then I can at least know where this claim about Ann came from. it is up to you guys to source pseudonyms, not up to me to de-source them. I'm saying appart form IMDB, where did you get it from that Kether, a Caucasian woman of no Malagasy origins or ancestry, is Annicé Moriarty? thanks. African Vulture (talk) 01:40, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

I want to know where it is you guys got your info from. I looked and I looked, no official source exists. I tried finding Donohue's website hoping I could dig something up, but no luck. Nothing linking her to Annie's name. I also brought up Donohue's race, or more exactly her ancestry because of the origins of the name Annicé, which is an African name. Hey, if you guys get to make unsourced claims so do I. the claim that Kether Donohue used Annice Moriarty is just as unsourced as the claim that Kether Donohue is guilty of cultural appropriation of a malagasy name. African Vulture (talk) 01:46, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

My friend tweeted her, hoping to hear back soon. African Vulture (talk) 02:08, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

I will caution you, just because something is long-uncontested does not equal truth. so I will ask again where did you people get it form that Annice Moriarty was Kether Donohue? African Vulture (talk) 10:04, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Please be patient and wait for a response. There's no need to continuously message the same user about the same concern. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 15:14, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Zacian and Zamazenta

Hello! I was just wondering... wouldn't it make more sense if we had the Japanese words シアン shian and マゼンタ mazenta as their name origin rather than English cyan and magenta? (Since their names aren't Zasaian or Zamajenta in Japanese, and even the English versions of the names use the Japanese words.) - Paramitsu (talk) 00:25, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

If 'shian' and 'mazenta' are 'cyan' and magenta', then no. That's like saying Iris' name originates from アイリス airisu. If it's just a romanization of an English word, we use the English word. Kai * the Arc Toraph 09:02, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
Yes, that is what I thought. Shian and mazenta are Japanese terms themselves (which, by the way, were assimilated from Dutch and Italian instead). Because of this, -shian and -mazenta are downright Japanese, not transcripted from English's "cyan" and "magenta". If they were, they'd follow the pronounciations of the English words, just like Airisu pronounces like English Iris, right? - Paramitsu (talk) 14:57, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

About shipping

Hello,

I belive that the project leaders are no longer up to date, but I do not really know who to talk to about this subject.

To submit an article, who should I contact in addition to the proposal on the project's discussion page?

Thanks you. LIEM (Talk with me) 09:34, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Protection

Excuse me, but regarding prerelease info, I was wondering with what happened to "We prefer doing it for just Pokémon"? Are staff protecting all Sword and Shield articles? Or why else would I protect something as insignifant as Team Yell Grunt (Trainer class)?

Also, in general, when do staff protect? Is it up to each individual staff member? Is providing a reason optional (as opposed to what the MoS seems to indicate)? I looked at the protection log, now I'm a bit concerned, so I was hoping you could resolve my concern, or pass it on to someone who can. Thanks. Nescientist (talk) 15:15, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

C'mon, you can't keep ignoring it. Please. Nescientist (talk) 11:01, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
I wasn't ignoring. I asked, it's still in the air, I have no answer to give. Kai * the Arc Toraph 12:56, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Alright, thanks, I'm glad to hear that, then. (As I would've been earlier.) Nescientist (talk) 15:24, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Cursed Body

Hello, I just let you know that I re-added the bit you removed on Cursed Body. --TheICTLiker4 17:51, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Well, now you get to explain why you would do that, while I remove it again. Kai * the Arc Toraph 22:56, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
I did that because all Pokémon with this Ability are Ghost types. You think this is unnotable? Or didn't you just look at the list of Pokémon with that Ability and ignore each type except Ghost? --TheICTLiker4 10:38, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Nope, you are correct, all of the pokemon on that list are, in fact, ghost type. Which you can see from the list! That makes that line...incredibly unnotable. See, that line is at best regulated to trivia because it brings no substance to the article, as abilities are not inherently connected to types. Due to that, if you can tell a trivia point from the page itself, the trivia point becomes unnotable. Yes, if you can tell a fact from the page just by looking at it, it is not notable for trivia. And that is a standard we adhere to.
And before you get the weird idea of taking that to heart and assuming wrongly on what is and is not notable (it can be a fine line), I did leave the lines found in Overgrow/Torrent/Blaze very specifically, as that falls in line more with signatures, and signature abilities/moves are note-worthy to mention in the header. Kai * the Arc Toraph 21:28, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Zarude

Hello, several months ago I made an addition to the Zarude's name origin page that drew inspiration from Zacian and Zamazenta's names, and i was wondering if i could include it again, seeing as how zacian and Zamazenta's names were proven to draw from "the cyan" and "the magenta". Zvoosh25 (talk) 18:07, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Without a connection to the dogs or even a similar theme, there's no possible way to assume there's an inspiration, since when broken down, the 'za' in Zacian and Zamazenta is strictly 'the', while this is not the case for Zarude due to 'saru' being a bigger and more obvious root, with no similar pun being in the dogs' names. So no, not unless there's better evidence, because to make that leap, you assume a relation where one might not exist ever. Kai * the Arc Toraph 01:42, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Edit Locked

Hello Arc!

I was looking around for a list of moves only ever obtainable on certain mons through events and found one on this Wiki here. I pasted a big old list and saved it without realizing my links were malformed. Now it's not allowing me to fix them under "Vandal Filter 3". I imagine this is due to making 3 edits in a short space of time (both previous edits were signed, and I intended to sign the third one with the link correction). It says to contact an online admin, so, hello! What can I do. -- Guiltysparkzz (talk) 22:03, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Welp, let me see what I can do. rolls up sleeves Kai * the Arc Toraph 22:33, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
So personally I don't know what pops the vandal filters (I'm a great admin, I tell you!), but I just fixed the links so you don't have to worry about that too much. (Until it happens again.) But, I suppose, don't get too overeager and try to keep your stuff to one go. That's not a strict rule, but it's something to keep in mind. Kai * the Arc Toraph 22:45, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much! Yeah I was going to just drop a link to the Google Doc I'm working on because covid time is great for making Big Dumb Data Entry Projects for myself, but then I figured I might as well run through my whole list and check for possible errors. Cheers! --Guiltysparkzz (talk) 23:04, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Nikkitalks

Hey, a new user named Nikkitalks (talkcontribs) created talk pages welcoming several new users, most of which didn't make any contributions and some of which were already blocked for having usernames deemed unacceptable. Could you maybe delete the pages, at least those of the already blocked users? Suic (talk) 23:13, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Nevermind, Tiddlywinks took care of it. Suic (talk) 01:02, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

User Talk / Profile Page Mix-Up

Yeah, uh... sorry for getting our own identities wrong. You see, we've tried editing a page or whatever else, but we just want access to our own profile... Trust us, we've tried time and time again to edit it and personalize it to our liking, but we can't even start because we "don't have permission to create" our own user page! We'd love to simply transfer and breathe personality into our own page, but all we could do then was that, which apparently wasn't good enough or something. If you can, we'd love an explanation. The Shadowstriker Thieves (talk) 23:41, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

To be able to create a userpage, you need to be a member for a certain amount of time and contribute a secret amount of edits to the wiki. Kai * the Arc Toraph 01:56, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
Also don't forget to balance out userspace edits and edits to the mainspace articles in accordance to the userspace policy. SupaToad64 (talkcontributions) 02:14, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Name change

Hi, could you change my username to Rock-O-Jello, please? That's my more general web name.

--Thanks, President Rocko (talk) 22:11, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Unfortunately, our ability to rename users is currently down and won't be available for a while. In the meantime, I will advise you that username changes tend to be more favorably granted to those who have contributed more towards the wiki, as the change is taxing on the server. Kai * the Arc Toraph 00:48, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Please don't delete my pages.

Please don't delete the pages that I created. It's been confirmed that Spectrier and Glastrier are two new legendary Pokemon that are coming out in the Crown Tundra. GlowstoneLove (talk) 22:22, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

They've been leaked. It's not the same as having been officially revealed. The pages were deleted, as it's our policy to wait for official confirmation. Kai * the Arc Toraph 22:36, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

Then why was I banned?

I only was told "rules violations" and was given no other information by email or otherwise. Mario60866 (talk) 17:28, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

It's still a matter for the forums and not anything pedia staff can do for you. I would check your messages on there, if you can. Kai * the Arc Toraph 17:55, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Macpika's dub petition

The other day Macpika was still trying to get the petition to be listed on the "Save Our Voice Actors" page, immediately re-adding it when a different user told them to stop. Animaltamer7 (talk) 03:13, 30 March 2022 (UTC)

Kaiju

BW082 and AG142 also contain trivia points about copyright kaiju characters. Is it only the Origin sections of Pokémon species that should not have these references, or should these references be removed as well? Landfish7 21:43, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

I don't think Bulbapedia is against such unauthorized mentions of kaiju. --Bfdifan2006 05:16, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
Copyrighted characters cannot be used as possible origins for Pokemon, as they are copyrighted characters. So yes, Bfdifan2006, we do have a rule on copyrighted characters (albeit unwritten).---ForceFire 05:48, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Crazy As a Lunatone page

If see you uncensored the word l****ic, that’s a slur against mentally ill people which is ableism and if someone who has a mental disorder reads that page, that word could offend them, it’s not to hurt people's feelings.

Stantler intro

Did you mean to omit the link to the Hisui article in your recent edit to the Stantler page's intro? Landfish7 04:17, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

Totally. Anyway, this edit isn't per anything. You can add it to the biology as you want, but it's not some formatting rule I'm decreeing to be everywhere. That's silly. But Stantler's evolution mention would need to be updated for present games, absent the 'strong/agile' styles, so the preface doesn't harm it. Kai * the Arc Toraph 11:57, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

Laventon

What kind of subjetcive proof do you need for Laventon? None of these characters are confirmed to be ancestors. Did you even read the talk page?--Rocket Grunt 21:03, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

The same kind of "proof" the others have. But insisting that there has to be an ancestor from every region is arbitrary. Why aren't you arguing that Iscan is Nessa's ancestor if you need one from Galar so badly? Better proof (dark skin, blue hair, water types), even if that proof is just as weak as your talking points. Leon and Hop have pretty unique designs; outside the skin color, none of those design elements were adopted. Yes, yes, "But the lavender! The purple!" That's stretching so hard, man. The colors aren't even the same; and Hop and Leon aren't even associated with purple outside their hair. All it would have taken for Laventon's lineage to be cemented was having them share the same eyes. Even more stand-out than the style of bangs Hop and Leon share are how their eyes are designed.
LA doesn't shy away from making most of the characters-considered-ancestors near carbon copies of those they resemble, and the ones that aren't have elements that don't make it a coincidence, to a degree we're just as comfortable with the speculative wording on their pages as we are with the carbon copies (Pesselle and Beni's possible double-ancestry not withstanding). Laventon shares nothing unique with them. The facial hair isn't the same as Leon's, nothing on the hat mirrors Leon and Hop's designs, and Hop wanting to be a professor is never connected back to "my great+ grandpa was one" so that's just a reach. There is no foundation of an argument here to even allow for "they resemble each other, but their connection is unknown" on the page. Because there's no resemblance. There's just none. Duraludon

Hi! I noticed you removed some info about Duraludon's reveal info from 2019 from the intro. Did you mean to do this? If so, would there be a better home for it, such as in trivia? Also, I feel the sentence "Duraludon can Gigantamax into Gigantamax Duraludon if it has the Gigantamax Factor for its Gigantamax form." is quite repetitive. The word "Gigantamax" appears in there four times. Would there be a better way to word it? Thanks for your help! Landfish7 21:27, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
