Trivia
- Brendan is based on the player character of the Hoenn-based games, as his character description mentions that his father is Norman. In addition, Brendan mentions in his sync pair story that he has already beaten his father.
- In a conversation with Brendan in the Pokémon Center, it is revealed that he owns a Taillow and a Zigzagoon.
- It has been hinted that Brendan might have a crush on May.[8]
- Brendan & Treecko are one of four sync pairs who have had an increased recruitment chance in a seasonal scout without being a seasonal sync pair. The other three are Karen & Houndoom, Hilda & Tepig, and Blue & Pidgeot.
- Brendan's Pokémon Adventures counterpart is depicted with a Mightyena. It may also be based on the Poochyena the player encounters during the DexNav tutorial in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
- All versions of Brendan use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include May, Wally, Norman, and Steven.
- Brendan also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with May, Wally, or Steven in the same team.
- In his sygna suit's sync pair story, Brendan mentions hearing a rumor about blue and red Pokémon flying around different regions. This may be a reference to how the player can catch Latios or Latias in Pokémon Emerald after seeing a newscast about a Pokémon flying around the region, with the player choosing whether the Pokémon on the news was red or blue.
Origin
Brendan's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Treecko is one of the first partner Pokémon of Hoenn in the core series games. Sceptile's Mega Stone is automatically obtained during the story of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire if the player chooses Treecko, allowing Sceptile to Mega Evolve. As the rival character, Treecko and its evolutions are Brendan's signature Pokémon if the player chooses Mudkip as their first partner Pokémon in the Hoenn-based core series games, with him Mega Evolving his Sceptile in a post-credits battle in the remakes. In addition, Brendan's Pokémon Generations and Pokémon Battle Frontier counterparts have been depicted with Sceptile. Treecko, Grovyle, and Sceptile's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ruby.
Latios is a Legendary Pokémon that is automatically obtained at Southern Island during the story of Omega Ruby. He is also holding his Mega Stone when obtained, allowing him to Mega Evolve. In addition, Brendan is depicted with Latios in the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Animated Trailer, with his Pokémon Adventures counterpart teaming up with a Latios during the manga, with both counterparts Mega Evolving Latios. Latios's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby.
