Medicham (Japanese: チャーレム Charem) is a dual-type Fighting/Psychic Pokémon.
It evolves from Meditite starting at level 37.
Biology
Physiology
Medicham's position of its humanshape body resembles a yoga practitioner, with a gray body and what seems to be large red and yellow pants or shorts. It wears some sort of headpiece that is also red with three yellow spots in the center, that seems to have three bulb-like extensions on the top and on the sides. Its large focused eyes are slightly covered by the headpiece, and its red lips seem to be in a rounded or puckered position.
Gender differences
The growth on top of Medicham's head is shorter on a female.
Special abilities
Medicham's meditation has caused it to develop a sixth sense, allowing for extreme focus as well as elegant movement. Its agility allows it to deliver devastating hits to its opponents.
Behavior
Medicham do daily meditation to hone their spiritual power. In the process they have gotten psychic powers such as reading people's minds at will. Because they are so focused in meditation, they will often go without food for a whole month or eat only little. They meditate in the wild and are known to use bushes, rocks or anything in nature to hide themselves from humans and other Pokémon. When Medicham are in battle, they will use dance-like movement to dodge attacks and then counterattack fiercely.
Habitat
Medicham is said to live atop mountains similar to the mountainous region of Tibet. Dwelling atop harsh mountains in the silence of the cold, thin air is a part of its physical and mental training.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
It survives on only one berry per month.
In the anime
Major appearances
Medicham first appeared during the Fallarbor Town Contest under the ownership of Grace during Pros and Con Artists and Come What May!.
Greta battled against Ash with a Medicham in Wheel of Frontier. The Meditation Pokémon was literally crushed by Ash's Snorlax.
A Medicham was a member of Team Meanies in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate!, similar to the one in the games.
Minor appearances
A Medicham appeared in the opening of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
Medicham and its pre-evolution were owned by a family of traveling circus performers in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. The two Meditation Pokémon used Psychic to make balls of water retain their form.
A Medicham under the ownership of Candice appeared in Sliding Into Seventh! where it battled against Ash's Staraptor. It first appeared in a preview in DP120.
A Medicham appeared in the Sinnoh Grand Festival in Opposites Interact!.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
A Medicham was one of Ruby's opponents in the Normal Rank Beauty Contest in Verdanturf Town, and later as one of the rampaging rental Pokémon in the Battle Tower. It was calmed with the rest of the disturbed Pokémon afterwards.
Arcade Star Dahlia has a Medicham that she uses in battle. It, along with Togekiss and Ludicolo, got swapped with Platinum's Pokémon because of the Game Board.

NPC appearances
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team: Medicham is a member of Team Meanies. It attempted to climb Wish Cave with Ekans but gave up on the twentieth floor and had to be rescued by the player.
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness: Medicham is a member of Team Charm. She knows Wigglytuff from long ago. Together, they and the player's team explore Aegis Cave and defeat Regigigas.
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: Team Charm debut in their own special episode, Lopunny being the playable character. She is shown to be the upbeat, tough, and, surprisingly, nervous member of the group, being sometimes wary and usually jumping quickly to conclusions. The team hears about the treasure filled Southern Jungle. They are advised to stay away by a Bellossom but the team continued on. They find a passed out Wigglytuff, who fainted due to hunger and give him a Perfect Apple, revitalizing him. They encounter Team AWD, who believe the team is pathetic. Before they enter, a Sentret pleads Charm to stop AWD, saying they were cruel to it. The team arrives at the dungeon's end, which holds an empty chest. AWD accuses Charm of taking the treasure and they fight. Wigglytuff appears to stop the brawl, and reveals that the chest is a Ditto. The Bellossom and Sentret earlier were also him. He reveals he is there to guard a Time Gear and the teams leave. They later bribe Wigglytuff with a Perfect Apple to join their team.

Trivia
Origin
Medicham resembles a primate of some sort, like its pre-evolution. It appears to have been based on a practitioner of yoga. It may have also been based on Arabian belly dancers, as its pants resemble traditional bedlah pants and its headgear resembles a shawl. One headpiece growth, the longest one, resembles a ponytail, which can be seen on Persian genies in most American fiction, such as Jeannie of I Dream of Jeannie, who also wear bedlahs. Like its predecessor Meditite, Medicham looks like many Hindu deities, most especially Shiva, and Ardhanari, a fusion of Shiva and his wife Shakti.
Name origin
Medicham may be a combination of meditate and champion.
Charem may derived from charm, harem, challenge, or champ.
