Mt. Coronet (Japanese: テンガンざん Mt. Tengan) is part of a long range of mountains that divide the Sinnoh region in half. Most of it is a deep cave, though there are several above-ground areas.

Mt. Coronet has entrances on Routes 207, 208, 211, and 216, connecting Oreburgh City, Hearthome City, Eterna City, Celestic Town, and Snowpoint City. After the HMs containing Surf, Strength, Defog, Rock Smash, Rock Climb and Waterfall and the item Azure Flute are obtained, the mountain is fully navigable. The caves inside the mountain have paths blocked by rocks and boulders. There are several pools of water throughout the cave. The summit of the mountain has grass where wild Pokémon live and is covered in snow. At the mountain's peak is the Spear Pillar, where many spiked pillars protrude from the ground. By using the Azure Flute in the center of the pillar a staircase appears which can be taken to the Hall of Origin.

In the anime

Despite, in the games, having to travel through Mt. Coronet to arrive at Hearthome City, Ash and his friends have not been shown journeying through the mountain as of yet. However, in DP058, they found Atsuo and Ash battled him at the Mt. Coronet area, because Atsuo wanted his Nosepass to evolve.

In the games

Mt. Coronet has only appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl so far. Although the player must pass through the mountain several times on their journey through Sinnoh, the most important events within it relate to Team Galactic. The player first meets Cyrus in Mt. Coronet's caves. Later on, Cyrus's plans bring Team Galactic to the mountain once again. Many Galactic Grunts invade the mountain. At the Spear Pillar, Cyrus summons Dialga or Palkia, whose power is too much for him. The legendary Pokémon is left for the hero to defeat or capture.

If an Azure Flute is obtained from a special Nintendo event, a staircase can be opened on the Spear Pillar to the Hall of Origin where Arceus waits.

Items

Note: Most of the following items are obtainable during the Dialga/Palkia quest; they require HM03 (Surf), HM04 (Strength), HM08 (Rock Smash) and HM05 (Defog) in the Basement. Moreover, most of these items are hidden and can be found using the Dowsing Machine.

Trivia

  • Mt. Coronet is the only location in Sinnoh where the elusive Pokémon Feebas can be caught. It only appears in four fishing spots in the basement, which change every day.
  • Mt. Coronet emits a special magnetic field. As a result, Magneton and Nosepass can only be evolved into Magnezone and Probopass, respectively, by leveling them up here.
  • The two Pokémon obtainable by evolving in Mt. Coronet have three magnetic units, according to the Pokédex - Probopass has three mini-noses, and Magnezone is made up of three units.
