History

Pre-series
Prior to The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Sidian was a battler who fought thugs on the streets, coming to be known as "Street Fighter Sidian". Hamber approached Sidian and challenged him to a battle, ultimately emerging victorious. He then invited Sidian to join the Explorers on the promise that he could fight even stronger opponents than the thugs on the streets. Among the four who were recruited and trained by Hamber, he was the third to be recruited, after Amethio and Coral.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Sidian first appeared as a hologram in The Ancient Poké Ball, alongside the other Explorers's generals. The first time he spoke and was seen clearly was in Quaxly, We Can Do It, judging Spinel over his last failure.
He made his physical debut in Reunion at the Ancient Castle!. At Hamber's request, Sidian and Coral accompanied him to the Galar region. In the next episode, after tracking down Amethio's location, the group arrived at the ancient castle where Diana was living at. Despite Hamber ordering them to stay on standby while he secured their target, Coral and Sidian invaded the location. He had his Garganacl indiscriminately take out the Pokémon living in the castle before he and Coral cornered Liko and Roy, only to be stopped by the sudden arrival of Captain Pikachu. Once Cap took out Sidian's Garganacl, Coral snapped and recklessly ordered her Glalie to use Self-Destruct, allowing the Rising Volt Tacklers to escape and leaving the ancient castle in ruins.
In As Long as I'm with My Friends, Sidian and the other generals joined in a meeting to discuss the Explorers' next objective. Eventually, they decided to go after the Black Rayquaza.
In A Challenge from the Explorers, Sidian and Coral arrived in a seaside town in Paldea. Coral had led him there under the guise of finding something important, which was actually some rare Wiglett sweet buns. However, upon finding out they had sold out and that Liko and Roy had managed to get a box without even lining up, she left them a challenge letter on the back of Roy's Fuecoco. While Coral faced Roy, Sidian stepped in to take Liko on. Despite the rough start, the young Rising Volt Tacklers refused to give up and eventually broke through their foes' strategies. Impressed, the two Explorers decided to stop holding back, but were forced to withdraw after Sidian received a call to take part in mission involving the Black Rayquaza.
In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Sidian, Coral, and Chalce summoned the Black Rayquaza near Levincia by using a machine that generated an energy similar to that Terapagos emitted previously and had their Pokémon battle against the Sky High Pokémon. They started strong, unleashing powerful super effective moves, but lost control over Rayquaza once Dot managed to shut down the machine. Once again, Coral let her temper overcome her better judgment and commanded Glalie to use Self-Destruct, which collided with Rayquaza's Dragon Pulse. The resulting explosion was powerful enough to blast the Legendary Pokémon directly into the hull of the Brave Olivine.

In Welcome to Naranja Academy!, along with Coral, Sidian enrolled in Naranja Academy as part of the Tera Training. Sidian introduced himself to Clavell under the name Seasoning (Japanese: オニギリ Onigiri), much to Coral's amusement.
In Trending Terastallization! Dance, Dance, Quaxly!, Sidian was caught spying on Liko, Roy, and Dot along with Coral by Clavell, believing that they were just wanting to know about their Academy colleagues, Clavell invited them both to watch Dot's battle against Iono, but eventually, Sidian left Clavell talking alone when Coral decided to go after food and Sidian went after her.
In Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four, it was revealed that Sidian managed to pass the first phase of Tera Training. During the Elite Four Tag Battle, Sidian confronted Rika alongside Tulip, but was defeated for insisting on protecting his ally's Pokémon. After a brief conversation with the Gym Leader about why this happened, Sidian left so Rika could begin her battle against Liko.
In The Terapagos I Don't Know, Sidian and Coral were seen with the other students during Clavell's speech that began the second part of the Training. Despite this, his Gym challenge was not revealed.
In Food Fit for a Kingambit!, Sidian decided to have food at the Anything Goes Café. Shortly after entering, he encountered Liko, Roy, and Dot again. When Dot's Quaxly accidentally crashed into Sidian's leg, he mistakenly assumed Dot had challenged him to a Pokémon battle. Seeing this as an opportunity to advertise and bring customers to the struggling eatery, Dot accepted the challenge and used Quaxly to battle Sidian's Garganacl. During the battle, the collision of Garganacl's Salt Cure and Quaxly's Low Kick caused salt to spread across the street, attracting the attention of customers. Although confused the battle ended without a winner, a hungry Sidian decided to partake in the eatery's new menu item, which he enjoyed.
In The Approaching Shadow!, Sidian and Coral surrounded Roy and Dot on Spinel's orders, abandoning their student disguise. In the next episode, Sidian and Coral battled against Roy and Dot to stall them, but before Coral's Glalie could finish off their opponents, they were interrupted by Grusha's arrival, so Chalce commanded the two generals to retreat. At their base, the generals gathered to ask Amethio if he had betrayed the Explorers by helping out Liko in escaping from a cave after seeing the footage recorded by Spinel's Beheeyem and why he did not catch Terapagos when he had the chance. Before Amethio could give a proper explanation, Gibeon arrived and expelled his grandson from the Explorers for helping their enemies.
In Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger!, while Chalce hacked Naranja Academy's systems to steal data on Terapagos, Sidian and Coral were ordered to prevent anyone from interfering with the mission. Later, on top of the academy's bridge, he encountered Liko, who had been made aware of the sabotage and went to confront the Explorers. Garganacl initially fought evenly with Floragato, only for the former to gain the upper hand once Sidian Terastallized it. Refusing to back down, Liko Terastallized Floragato as well, giving her enough of a boost to defeat Garganacl. After his defeat Sidian acknowledged Liko's strength and told her not to forget his name before leaving and taking Coral with him, much to her anger. In the following episode, Sidian and Coral reflected over their defeats before enjoying a rice ball and sandwich, respectively.

In Over the Top!, Hamber ordered Sidian and Coral to follow the Rising Volt Tacklers to Area Zero. In the next episode, Sidian was observing the Rising Volt Tacklers, but had to find Coral when she went off on her own. After finding her, Sidian noted that she caught a Scream Tail. In The Pillar of Fire, Sidian and Coral witnessed the Rising Volt tacklers' battle against Lucius's Gouging Fire and Rayquaza from a distance. At the end of the battle, they departed from Area Zero to report their findings to their fellow Explorers.
In The Truth Revealed!, Sidian and Coral attended a meeting with the other Explorers where they reported the events that happened in Area Zero. Gibeon instructed everyone to prepare for the battle that will follow in Laqua.
In The Pokémon Paradise of Laqua!, after Pagogo removed the barrier keeping Laqua sealed, Liko, Roy, and Dot were greeted by Sidian, Coral, and Chalce. In the following episode, the Explorers admitted they were aware of Laqua's location from the beginning and just waited for the Rising Volt Tacklers to take down the barrier for them. Having achieved their goal, the Explorers decided to get rid of the Rising Volt Tacklers by battling them. Sidian used Garganacl to battle Liko's Floragato, but despite his defensive tactics, Liko was able to gain the upper hand.

In Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, the Explorers continued to prevent Liko's group from heading further into Laqua, only to be attacked by Onia and Zirc. This distraction allowed Liko, Roy, and Dot to run ahead and confront Gibeon. Later, Sidian and his allies supported Gibeon by utilizing machines designed to stimulate the ground where the Laquium was buried, forcibly activating it and making it expand uncontrollably. Sidian, Coral, and Chalce used their Pokémon to block any incoming attacks that would damage the machines.
In Where the Adventure Leads, once the Laquium had been purified by Pagogo and the Six Heroes, Sidian watched in shock as Gibeon's body faded away. Disappointed by his former leader's failure, Spinel announced that he would surpass Gibeon and that the Explorers would take control of Laqua. Sidian and Coral objected to Spinel's sudden ambitions, but were told by Chalce to just keep watching. Using a device he developed, Spinel infected five of the Six Heroes with Laquium. The infected heroes run wild, causing Laqua to begin collapsing on itself.
In The Strong Sphere, a year later Sidian and Coral were at the Exceed Testing Center showcasing the use of Laquium with the Strong Spheres in battle. While Coral was entertaining the crowd, Sidian soon spotted Liko and Roy among them and informed her of it. Since the public did not know the identities of the Rising Volt Tacklers, they decided to pull the two in for a Double Battle, where they were evenly matched. The two generals resorted to using the Strong Spheres to defeat Crocalor and Meowscarada, though both were ignorant to the harmful effects of Laquium towards their own Pokemon. After Ult intervened with his Sableye, Coral recklessly commanded Glalie to use Self-Destruct, which did nothing to Sableye and merely allowed Liko, Roy, and Ult to escape. Afterward, Sidian and Coral met with Chalce, who noted that as long as the Explorers have the public on their side, Liko's group couldn't do anything to them.
In Tinkatuff's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Year!, an Exceed representative had Sidian board a Flying Taxi and head to Paldea. Dot's Tinkatuff happened to see them flying overhead and knocked the taxi's Corviknight out of the sky in order to acquire its feathers. Angered by this, Coral decided to take her aggression out on Dot and teamed up with Sidian to battle her. Dot managed to keep Sidian and Coral busy long enough for Tinkatuff to forge the feathers into a new hammer and evolve into a Tinkaton. Using its newly-gained strength, Tinkaton sent Glalie flying, forcing Sidian and Coral to chase after it

In The Six Heroes Unleashed!, Coral and Sidian arrived at an Exceed distribution center. They remained on standby while several Explorers members tested the new Super Strong Spheres on the captured Six Heroes, who were forced to battle Liko and her friends. In the following episode, Amethio arrived to help battle the rampaging heroes, leaving behind his Corviknight and Zygarde to deal with Sidian. Despite their combined strength, Liko and the others eventually suffered a total defeat. Exhausted, the effects of the Super Strong Spheres wore off on the heroes, whose unconscious bodies were taken away by the Explorers.
In HZ124, the younger Rising Volt Tacklers and Amethio infiltrated the Explorers HQ to rescue the captured Six Heroes. They broke into the building, but were led into Spinel's trap, who had each of the five youths isolated with an Explorers member commanding one of the Six Heroes. Sidian battled Liko with Kleavor, but it was eventually defeated when Meowscarada used its vines to trap Kleavor, leaving it unable to defend itself from Meowscarada's next attack. Once all of the Six Heroes were defeated, Pagogo used its power to cure them of the Laquium's effects. Liko and the others escaped with the Six Heroes, but unbeknownst to them, Spinel recorded their encounter and manipulated the events to make the Rising Volt Tacklers appear as the villains. He used this to forced the Rising Volt Tacklers into hiding from the public and advertise the Strong Sphere.
In HZ130, Strong Spheres were officially released into the public and were a commercial success. Worried about the Rising Volt Tacklers trying to interfere with his schemes, Spinel had Sidian, Coral, and Chalce act as security on Mount Pericarp. Just as they were preparing to leave, they were approached by Hamber, who pleaded that they reject Strong Spheres and stop working for Spinel. Sidan refused and battled alongside Coral and Chalce against their former teacher. Hamber utilized his recently-caught Bloodmoon Ursaluna to defeat Coral and Sidian, but was eventually defeated by Chalce's Mega Medicham. Hamber once again asked Sidian and the others to remember the importance of bonds before escaping and leaving the rest to Amethio and his allies.
In HZ133, Sidian, Coral, and Chalce intercepted Roy, Ult, and Friede upon the Rising Volt Tacklers's arrival at Laqua, triggering a Triple Battle between both parties. Sidian promptly Mega Evovled his Aerodactyl, while Coral and Chalce likewise Mega Evolved their Medicham and Glalie, facing off against Roy's Lucario, Ult's Sableye, and Friede's Starmie. The battle continued in the following episode, as Sidian comes to actually enjoy the battle after using Strong Spheres for so long on his partner and refuses to use it this time. However, the battle ended as a win for the Rising Volt Tacklers when Coral ordered her Mega Glalie to use a Refrigerate-boosted Self-Destruct. Although, despite the loss, Sidian accepted defeat and let the group go on ahead.
In HZ135, Sidian, Coral, and Chalce appeared before everyone at the summit of Laqua, each declaring that they now reject the Strong Sphere and are no longer working for Spinel. Sidian and Chalce watch Coral Terastallized Screamypuff and had it fill the role of one of the eighteen Tera Type Pokémon needed to fully purify the Laquium, replacing Penny's Sylveon. Refusing to let his machinations be ruined, Spinel fused with the Laquium itself, causing the Core to rise from the earth and begin attacking anyone it perceived as a threat. In the next episode, Sidian, Coral, and Chalce decided to buy Roy and Amethio time for their Mega-Evolved Legendary Pokémon to get charged up so they can destroy the Laquium Core's defenses after witnessing the Rising Volt Tacklers, their allies, and Hamber not giving up. Sidian then witness the Laquium Core being destroyed for good. After the threat with Laquium was over, Sidian left the Explorers, but retained his celebrity status.
Character

Sidian overall appears to have a serious and stoic personality, hardly showing strong emotions at times, although he can still get frustrated or irritated when insulted by others, such as his fellow general Coral. He usually obeys the orders of his superiors such as Hamber without much issues. Like Coral, Sidian can at times be less disciplined and more aggressive than his fellow general, though less often than Coral. Sidian has a ruthless and combative disposition when operating, as seen during the siege on Diana's castle where he not only disobeyed orders to standby, but also commanded his Garganacl to indiscriminately attack and take out every Pokémon in his path by having them inflicted with Salt Cure. In Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger! he had his Garganacl attack both a security guard and his Psyduck with Salt Cure for getting in their way, further showing his ruthless nature.

Nonetheless, Sidian has his own personal limits and considers even Coral's volatile actions to be reckless. Sidian is notably level-headed and calm, and because of this he often stays around Coral to keep her volatile behavior in check. In line with his level-headedness, he appears to be surprisingly honorable, as shown in A Challenge from the Explorers, politely asking Liko to be his opponent and to fight with honor, without the use of dirty or underhanded tactics. Sidian's sense of honor is further shown in Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four, telling Rika that he couldn't allow Tulip, his Tag Battle partner, to suffer to guarantee his victory, and further remarking there's no point in disgraceful victories. His sense of honor and personal limits were further shown in Where the Adventure Leads, where he initially objects to Spinel's ruthless and unethical actions in unleashing the Laquium on the Six Heroes and taking over the Explorers. Like Coral, and unlike his fellow Explorers, he recognizes the value of the bond between a Pokemon and Trainer. Despite his initial willingness to use the Strong Sphere on his Garganacl in The Strong Sphere and feign ignorance to its harms in order to maintain the public facade, his personal limits are once again shown in HZ125, in which after Spinel orders the generals to use a second round of the Super Strong Sphere on the Six Heroes, he raises his concerns over the state of the Six Heroes and how they're at their limit and cannot take anymore. He also reflected on how he did naught but watch when using the Strong Sphere on Kleavor, and questioned what the point of a Trainer would be if the Strong Sphere renders the Trainer's presence irrelevant. Upon having a battle with Roy, Ult, and Friede in HZ134, Sidian actually smiled at giving his all during a hard fought battle, as he goes to the point of not using a Strong Sphere.
In HZ130, it was revealed that Sidian used much more violence than he did in the present, a ruthless battler who is notorious for being a street fighter who constantly seeks out stronger trainers to battle. Due to his desire to seek stronger opponents, he was willing to accept Hamber's offer to join the Explorers. Thus, he went from being a more violent and aggressive individual to a calmer and level-headed man he is today. Sidian's troubled past may have been part of the reason why he looks out for Coral more than Chalce does, as he didn't want her to make the same mistakes he made during his earlier days. Upon realizing that using Strong Spheres would have reverted him to the person he once was before joining the Explorers, Sidian decided to take a stand against Spinel. He even decided to leave the Explorers, but maintain his celebrity status, as seen in HZ136.
Among the members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, Sidian appears to clash most often with Liko, confronting her several times, this began during their battle in A Challenge from the Explorers and extended throughout and after the period in which Liko was present at Tera Training.
Pokémon
As seen so far, Sidian appears to specialize in Rock-type Pokémon.

Garganacl is Sidian's first known Pokémon, as well as his main partner and battling Pokémon. It is capable of Terastallizing into a Rock type.
Throughout its many battles against the Rising Volt Tacklers or other opponents, Garganacl was commonly partnered up with Coral's Glalie, with whom it worked well together, to the point of having Wide Guard to protect against its usually indiscriminate spread moves. Unlike Glalie, however, Garganacl seemed to favor a less active battle style, focusing on wearing its opponent down while restoring its own energy. Out of the Rising Volt Tacklers, Garganacl was often pitted against Liko's Meowscarada, even as a Sprigatito or Floragato.
It Terastallized into a Rock type for the first time in Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger!, during a battle against Liko's Floragato, though it lost after she Terastallized. The same matchup repeated itself in The Rising Volt Tacklers vs. The Explorers!, though this time Floragato was able to win even without Terastallizing.
In The Strong Sphere, Garganacl was used alongside Coral's Glalie against Liko's Meowscarada and Roy's Crocalor. This time, the Explorers used Strong Spheres on their Pokémon, allowing them to easily overpower their opponents even without their Trainers issuing orders.
In HZ130, Garganacl was used alongside Coral's Glalie and Chalce's Medicham to battle against Hamber. The three of them used Strong Spheres on their Pokémon, but Hamber still managed to keep the upper hand for the majority of the battle and defeated Garganacl and Glalie once he revealed his Bloodmoon Ursaluna.
In HZ136, Garganacl helped fight the Laquium Core before Pagogo erased it for good.
Garganacl's known moves are Salt Cure, Wide Guard, Stone Edge, Iron Defense, Recover, and Heavy Slam.
Aerodactyl is Sidian's second known Pokémon, which he mainly uses for aerial transport. It is capable of Mega Evolving, although, according to himself, in a weaker state due to the constant use of Strong Sphere having weakened their bond.
It Mega Evolved for the first time in HZ133, alongside Coral's Glalie and Chalce's Medicham against Roy, Ult, and Friede's own Mega-Evolved Pokémon. The battle continued in the following episode, and ended as a win for the Rising Volt Tacklers after Coral ordered her Mega Glalie to use a Refrigerate-boosted Self-Destruct.
Aerodactyl's known moves are Iron Head and Rock Blast.
