GAME FREAK's (Japanese: ゲームフリーク Game Freak) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Generation V games.

In the games

Game Freak employees appear in each of the main series games, with their headquarters on the third floor of the Celadon Condominiums. In the games in which Kanto is not visitable, they sometimes appear on vacation, with a group in Lilycove City, staying in the Cove Lily Motel, and a single member staying at the Hotel Grand Lake in Valor Lakefront. The main reason to visit them is to obtain a diploma, awarded after the completion of the Pokédex. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the sound designer gives the GB Sounds after the player has obtained all eight Kanto Badges.

Game Freak has its own building in Castelia City in Pokémon Black and White, where a character representing Shigeki Morimoto can be battled after stopping Team Plasma. Game Freak is found on 22F, just like in their former real-world office in Carrot Tower. In Black 2 and White 2, aside from Morimoto, another employee which is based on Kōji Nishino can also be fought. Nishino uses a Snorlax as his highest leveled Pokémon, a reference to his nickname カビゴン Kabigon, after which Snorlax is named. In the English versions, he calls himself Snorlax. In Generation V, Morimoto exclusively uses Pokémon that debuted in Generation V.

In Sun and Moon, Game Freak has an office located in Heahea City. Morimoto returns as a Trainer the player can battle once per day, though the player must have become the Champion to do so. After being defeated for the first time, he will give the player the Oval Charm. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Morimoto plays the same role, except he teams with the game's director, Kazumasa Iwao, for a Double Battle. In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Morimoto makes a similar cameo, but as a Coach Trainer instead.

In Generation VII, Morimoto exclusively uses Pokémon that debuted in Generation I, a reference to the fact that Pokémon Sun and Moon were released in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green, and keeps his Pokémon in Ultra Balls. Iwao uses Normal-type Pokémon, and is the only character of this class to use a unique model. He keeps his Pokémon in Repeat Balls.

In Sword and Shield, Game Freak is located in the western building of Hotel Ionia in Circhester. During the post-game, Morimoto can be challenged to a Double Battle once per day, and gives the player the Oval Charm after being defeated for the first time. In these games, he takes on the appearance of a Police Officer.

In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Game Freak is located at Hotel Grand Lake. During the post-game, Morimoto, appearing as a male Swimmer, can be challenged to a battle once per day. Like in Sword and Shield, he gives the player the Oval Charm after being defeated for the first time.
