Summer Nights & Wishing Stars (Japanese: 真夏の空に願いをこめて Make a Wish to the Midsummer Sky) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs N & Zoroark, Hilda & Grapploct, and Hilbert & Samurott.
During this event, players could earn two types of tickets from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra tickets were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.
This event is the only way to obtainSong Key No. 00030, which allows "Sync Pair Showtime" to be played in the Jukebox.
First run
The event first ran from June 30 to July 17, 2022. The "N Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting N (Summer 2022) and Zoroark for the duration of the event, and the "Hilda Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Hilda (Summer 2022) and Grapploct starting on July 2, 2022 and lasting until the end of the event.
In this run, the two types of tickets that players could earn were Summer Tickets and Super Summer Tickets. The player could battle using N (Summer 2022) and Zoroark, Hilda (Summer 2022) and Grapploct, or Hilbert and Oshawott/Dewott/Samurott to obtain +0.6× bonus tickets; Gloria (Summer 2021) and Inteleon, Marnie (Summer 2021) and Grimmsnarl, Steven (Summer 2020) and Alolan Sandslash, or Lyra (Summer 2020) and Jigglypuff to obtain +0.4× bonus tickets; and any unlisted Dark- or Fighting-type sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus tickets.
Second run
The event reran from July 6 to 20, 2023. The "Super Spotlight Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting N (Summer 2022) and Zoroark, Hilda (Summer 2022) and Grapploct, Gloria (Summer 2021) and Inteleon, Marnie (Summer 2021) and Grimmsnarl, Steven (Summer 2020) and Alolan Sandslash, and Lyra (Summer 2020) and Jigglypuff for the duration of the event.
In this run, the two types of tickets that players could earn were Summer Tickets B and Summer Tickets B+. The player could battle using N (Summer 2022) and Zoroark, Hilda (Summer 2022) and Grapploct, or Hilbert and Oshawott/Dewott/Samurott to obtain +0.6× bonus tickets; Tate (Summer 2023) and Jirachi, Liza (Summer 2023) and Celesteela, Gloria (Summer 2021) and Inteleon, Marnie (Summer 2021) and Grimmsnarl, Steven (Summer 2020) and Alolan Sandslash, or Lyra (Summer 2020) and Jigglypuff to obtain +0.4× bonus tickets; and any unlisted Dark- or Fighting-type sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus tickets.
If the player had already obtainedSong Key No. 00030 in the previous run, exchanging for it in the shop again would reward the player with a 3★ Power-Up.
Plot
N accompanies Hilda and Hilbert to a summer festival, despite his uncertainty that he will be able to enjoy it. At Hilda's urging, he attempts to participate in the various activities at the festival. Hilda gifts him a Wishing Star replica, and he decides to return the favor, asking Steven for help deciding what kind of stone to get for her. However, they are sidetracked by some Team Break members, who are scamming festival-goers with a rigged Poké Ball shell game. N wagers the Wishing Star replica to enter the game, and uses his Zoroark's powers of illusion to expose the fraud. Team Break destroys the Wishing Star replica before they flee, but N still comes to be happy that he attended the festival.

Hilda | Our goal is to visit every single stall at the festival! |
Hilda | Are you ready, you two?! Make sure you're focused and prepared to give it your all! |
Hilbert | Do you really have to focus and prepare that much just to have fun at a festival? |
Hilda | Of course, silly! Figuring out how to maximize your pocket money to have the most fun is super important! |
N | So we give it our all in battles, and we should also do the same when we're having fun? |
Hilda | Exactly! So come on—let's get going! |

Hilda | Hurry up, you two! |
Hilbert | W-wait for us, Hilda! |
Youngster | C'mon, Dad! Let's go do that one next! |
Black Belt | Wahaha! OK, I’m coming! |
N | ... ... ... |
Hilda | N? What's wrong? |
N | Maybe I shouldn't have come here after all... I'm not very good at having fun like those two. |
Hilda | There's no such thing as being good or bad at having fun! And as an experienced festival-goer myself, I'd be happy to teach you if there's anything you don't understand! So don't worry, OK? |
N | OK, Hilda. But I've really got no clue about these things. Like...that, over there. That fluffy stuff that looks like Cottonee's cotton... I've never seen that before. |
Hilda | Oh, that? That's cotton candy! It's a yummy treat that melts in your mouth the second you eat it! |
N | I see. And what about those round things shaped like Applin and Munna? |
Hilda | Those are candy apples. They’re whole apples coated with supersweet candy! |
N | Interesting! |
Hilda | Festivals are just full of fun and tasty things like that! I'll teach you all about them, N! |
N | Thanks, Hilda. |
Hilda | Hilbert! If you don't hurry up, we'll leave you behind! |
Hilbert | No problem! I'll catch up! |
Hilbert | Heh. Hilda sure is gung ho about this festival thing... But it looks like N's having fun with her around. I'm glad I invited them. |

Hilda | I'm definitely gonna get a winner this time! |
Street Thug | Haha, nice try! Here's a potion as a consolation prize. |
Hilda | Aw, c'mon! Three duds in a row... |
Hilbert | C'mon, Hilda. Enough Pokémon lottery already. |
N | I see... So if you get a winner, you can get prizes like Pokémon plushies. I'd like to give it a try. |
Hilda | Sure! Just don't expect to win on your first— |
Street Thug | Whoa, congratulations, dude! You've won the second prize—a set of Pokémon plushies! |
N | Thank you. |
Hilda | Seriously? You won in one try?! |
N | Did you want a prize, Hilda? You can have one of these plushies, if you like. |
Hilda | Nah. It's not as fun if you don’t win it on your own! As long as I have the will to win, I'm sure this next one will be a winner! |
??? | Now, Sirfetch'd! Take up your fighting stance! |
Hilbert | Was that Bea's voice I heard just now? |
N | She must be having a battle somewhere. |
Hilda | Wait—did you say "battle"?! I wanna battle, too! Let's find her, quick! |
Hilbert | Ack! Hilda, wait up! What about the lottery? |
Hilda | Hey, who were you just battling? Where's your opponent? Where'd they go?! |
Gloria | Oh, are you here because you heard Bea shouting? |
Bea | That wasn't a battle. Lyra told me that people dance at summer festivals, so I was practicing for that. I thought I'd incorporate some Galar karate into my dancing. |
Lyra | Yeah! Dancing is the perfect finale for a summer festival. It's a whole event in itself! |
Hilda | Aw, so it wasn't a battle after all... But now that I think about it, a summer festival dance might also be pretty fun! |
Bea | Wait a moment—that Grapploct... |
Hilda | You noticed? Yeah, she’s from the Egg you gave me before! The little Clobbopus that hatched from it sure has grown up! |
Bea | I can tell you've taken good care of her. She's truly a fine Grapploct. |
Hilda | Thanks, Bea! By the way, do you wanna see how strong we've gotten? |
Bea | Yes. As a matter of fact, that's precisely what I was thinking just now. |
Hilda | OK, let's find a place... |
Bea | ...where we can battle! |
Hilbert | Wow, Hilda's already battling! She sure has a lot of energy. |
N | She really seems to be enjoying herself. Hilda shines the brightest when she's battling. |

Hilbert | I wonder where Hilda went, anyway. |
N | She might've gotten more sync pairs to battle her. |
Hilbert | Yeah, that's definitely a possibility... |
Hilda | Sorry, you two! My plan was to come right back after I finished that battle with Bea... But then I got distracted by this really cool stall with a target practice game and lost track of time. |
Hilbert | Yup, sounds like something you'd do. |
N | I can just imagine your giddy face as you played. |
Hilda | Hey! Stop treating me like a kid, you two! I mean... I guess it is true that I've been the one getting the most excited about all the games and stuff, but still... Anyway, check out these prizes I won! Here, I got one for each of you! |
Hilbert | Oh, is this a pendant? There's a little rock attached to it. |
Hilda | Yeah! They're replicas of these things called wishing stars! Apparently, they're these special rocks from Galar! They're said to grant wishes! And now all three of us have one! Let's keep them as mementos of the fun we're having today at this festival! My wish will be for us to become even better friends! |
N | Thanks, Hilda. I'll take good care of this. This is such a lovely gift. I'll have to get you something in return. |
Steven | Hm? Those rocks you've got there... |
Hilda | I won them at the target practice game! They're wishing star replicas. The three of us are going to keep them as mementos of this fun summer festival! |
Steven | Wishing star replicas, eh? |
Hilbert | I hope you're not disappointed. |
Steven | Not at all! Even if they're replicas, those rocks are now full of all your feelings. Because of that, they shine just as bright as the real thing. |
N | Thank you. Do you know much about stones? If so, I have a question for you. I'm wondering what kind of stone I should get for Hilda in return. I'd like to get her something that will make her happy. |
Steven | Hm... Well, Hilda’s always bright and strong, so I think a Sun Stone or a Shiny Stone would be great for her! Or maybe— |
??? | Step right up! It's time for a special game! |
Hilbert | Hm? Isn't that—? |
Hilda | Hey! That's Team Break! |
- A Special Game
Name | Text |
---|---|
Hilda | We should go over there and teach them a lesson! |
Hilbert | Wait, Hilda! Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to pick a fight with them. |
Steven | By all appearances, they're just operating a festival stall. |
N | Why don't we keep an eye on what they're doing, just in case? |
Hilda | If you say so... I guess I'll stand down. |
Camper | Oooh, what's going on? |
Masked Man (1) | The rules are simple! All you have to do is select the two Poké Balls that have Pokémon inside them out of four! Remember, only TWO have Pokémon in them. The other two are empty! Since two out of four have Pokémon inside, you have a 50 percent chance of winning! If you're able to find the Poké Balls with Pokémon in them twice in a row, we'll give you a Mythical Pokémon! |
Hilda | Hm... I mean, they're calling it a game, but... |
Hilbert | They're giving out Pokémon as prizes? |
N | ... ... ... |
Masked Man (1) | Don't forget, this is your chance to win yourself a Mythical Pokémon! Of course, there's a price to participate. The entry fee is any type of treasure you've got on hand! |
Hiker | OK, I'll give it a whirl! |
Masked Man (1) | Sure thing! Hey, you! Hurry up and lay out the Poké Balls! |
Masked Man (2) | Yes, sir! |
Steven | ... ... ... |
Hiker | I think this one looks like a winner! |
Hiker | And my second choice is...this one! |
Hiker | ... ... ... |
Masked Man (1) | Too bad! You didn't find the Pokémon! |
Hiker | Darn! |
Lass | Let me try! |
Camper | Me too! |
Masked Man (1) | Sure! Go ahead, make a line! |
Masked Man (1) | Oh, what a shame... You almost had it! Great job finding that first Pokémon, though! |
Camper | Aw, shucks! |
Masked Man (1) | Now, we'll be keeping these treasures we collected from you, as was agreed! Geheheheh! |
Hilbert | That's weird... If the probability of finding both Pokémon is 50 percent, why isn't anyone winning? |
N | Because the probability isn't really 50 percent. |
Hilda | What do you mean? |
N | The 50 percent probability only applies to the first guess, where two out of the four options are correct. But on the second guess, you've got three options, and only one is a winner. So the probability of selecting that winner is just one in three. If you calculate the overall probability of picking a Pokémon twice in a row, the odds are actually one in six. |
Hilda | What?! That's not even close to 50 percent! |
Steven | Yeah. Plus, it looks like there's another reason why nobody's winning. |
Masked Man (1) | Make sure you set them out CORRECTLY. Got it? |
Masked Man (2) | Heheh. Yeah, yeah, I know! |
Hilda | Hey! He just swapped out one of the balls! They took away one of the winning Poké Balls! It's impossible to win now! |
Hilbert | That's some dirty, rotten cheating right there! |
Steven | Yeah...but if we try to point that out, I'm sure they'll play dumb. |
Hilda | As long as nobody notices their tricks, they can just keep taking advantage of people! They’re using this festival to cheat people out of their precious treasures! How could anyone stoop so low?! |
Hilbert | Do we really have to just stand here and watch this? |
Hilda | Ugh! This is so frustrating! Isn’t there something we can do?! |
N | Hmm, there might be something. I have an idea. |
Hilda | Huh? What kind of idea? |
N | Sometimes you have to fight foul play with some foul play of your own. |
- Summer Night Sky

Masked Man (1) | So, who's our next challenger? |
N | I'll do it. |
Masked Man (1) | Excellent. And what treasure will you be offering? |
N | How about this? |
Masked Man (1) | A pendant with a rock on it? It just looks like a rock. Is this thing actually valuable? Oh well. It'll do. Hey, line up the balls! |
Masked Man (2) | Yes, sir! |
N | Hm... I'll start with that one. |
Masked Man (1) | Well done! Your first guess is correct! But we'll see about the next one... |
N | Next, that one. |
Masked Man (2) | Wh-whaaa?! |
Hilda | Hooray! You won! |
Hilbert | Nice, N! |
Masked Man (2) | B-but how? |
Masked Man (1) | We only put one correct ball there in the first place, so there's no way you could've— |
Lass | Huh? What did you say just now?! |
Masked Man (1) | Uh... Oh, I mean, no! That was just, uh...a figure of speech! |
Camper | That means it was impossible to win! |
N | That's right. The way he was usually setting it up, there was no possible way to win. And yet, for some reason, you put two correct balls out in front of me... Why would you do that? Were you distracted by some sort of illusion? |
Masked Man (1) | What would an illusion have to do with— Ohhh, I get it now. Zoroark can make people see illusions! You tricked us! |
N | I'd say that goes for you as well. At any rate, the game's over. Now if you'd just return the treasure I— |
Masked Man (1) | Shut up! Here's your trashy treasure! |
N | Ah! |
Hilda | H-he smashed it to pieces! N! I've had enough of this! Let's take down Team Break together! |
N | Yes. Let's. |
Masked Man (1) | You think YOU'VE had enough? What about us?! Hey, you! Get over here! |
Hilbert | If it's three we're up against, then I'm joining you two! |
Hilda | Let's go! The three of us together'll really teach 'em a lesson! |
Masked Man (1) | Ngah! |
Masked Man (2) | Th-they got us! |
Hilda | Now you're gonna give back every single treasure you took from people here. You got that?! |
Hilbert | And about that Mythical Pokémon you claimed to have as a prize... |
Masked Man (1) | That was just a lie to get people to play the game! We haven't caught any Mythical Pokémon! |
Hilbert | *sigh* I thought that was probably the case. |
Hilda | I've had enough of your lies! If you try anything awful like this again... |
Masked Man (1) | Eeek! We won't—we promise! |
Steven | That was a good battle. I'd love to battle with you all myself sometime. |
Hilda | Yeah, definitely! |
Hilda | Ahhh, that felt good! |
N | I'm so sorry, Hilda. The present you gave me—it... |
Hilda | Oh, you don't need to worry for my sake. |
N | But... |
Hilda | The only thing they broke was that pendant. They can't break our memories, you know? Instead of a pendant, let's just etch today's memories into our hearts! |
N | You're right... Thanks, Hilda. |
Hilda | It's all so beautiful. But now it's going to end. I wasn't finished enjoying the festival... |
Hilbert | I think we already enjoyed it quite a bit. |
Hilda | But I wanted to hang out with you two even more! |
N | It...really is beautiful. |
Hilbert | What was that, N? |
N | I'm sure today's memories will live on forever in my heart. That's how beautiful this is. When you first invited me to the summer festival, I thought I should refuse because I didn't really know how to properly enjoy one. I felt guilty that I wouldn't be able to truly enjoy it with you. But both of you were so kind to me, Hilda and Hilbert. I had a wonderful time with you tonight. That really was fun. Thank you for inviting me. I'll never forget the moments we shared today. |
Hilbert | Same! |
Hilda | I won’t either, N! |
N | And...I don't want it to end with just tonight. I hope I can go to another summer festival again with you two. And we'll make more memories just as fun as the ones we made today. |
