Trivia
Origin
It is possible the inspiration for Grumpig came from the proverb "do not cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under your feet." The pearls were supposed to represent wisdom given to an audience who wouldn't appreciate the teachings. Grumpig and Spoink appear to instead use those pearls of wisdom to enhance their mental powers. It is also possible that Grumpig's manipulativeness, ability to walk on hind legs, and ability to perform human actions are derived from the character Napoleon, of George Orwell's Animal Farm.
Name origin
Grumpig's name is likely just a combination of grump and pig. Boopig is probably derived from ぶうぶう būbū, grumbling or oinking, or 豚 buta, pig, and the English word pig.
In other languages
- German: Groink - This name is probably a combination of grumbling and oink, the sound pigs make.
- French: Groret
- Korean: 피그킹 Pigking
