Detect is a non-damaging Fighting-type move introduced in Generation II.
Effect
Protects the user from all effects of moves that target it during the turn it is used, including damage. This does not include damage afflicted by weather conditions it is susceptible to, or damage from status ailment that it obtained on a previous turn.
In Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, Detect cannot always prevent the effects of attacks if the user of the attack that is being used to attack the Pokémon using Detect has the No Guard ability and is using a STAB move, nor can it always protect against those using Thunder while it is raining or Blizzard while it is hailing. In the latter two cases, the moves have a 50% chance of hitting through Detect, whereas with No Guard, the moves have their normal accuracy as their chance to hit.
