Effect

Pound inflicts damage and has no secondary effect.

Pound is affected by King's Rock in all generations other than Generation IV.

In Generation III, Pound can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing DoubleSlap, Faint Attack, and Slam to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.

Pound is Jigglypuff's neutral special in Super Smash Bros. and its side special from Super Smash Bros. Melee onwards. It is mainly used as an alternate recovery move, since its up special, Sing, does not help Jigglypuff recover. The move does extra shield damage and can thus be used to easily break shields.

• Pound is the first Generation I move in index number order.
  • Prior to the 1.2.0 update, Pound also appeared at index numbers 875 and 876 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These were placeholders for the moves Psyblade and Hydro Steam, respectively.
• In Pokémon Platinum, Secret Power has the animation of Pound when used in the Distortion World.
