Grotle (Japanese: ハヤシガメ Hayashigame) is a Grass-type Pokémon.
It evolves from Turtwig starting at level 18 and evolves into Torterra starting at level 32.
Biology
Physiology
The shell possessed by Turtwig has grown to protect Grotle's entire head, back, and short tail, and, along with its change of coloration to yellow, now appears sectioned. Turtwig's sprout has migrated to Grotle's back and grown into full bushes, which may occasionally be seen carrying brown, acorn-like nuts. There are three long, brown ridges on the top of Grotle's shell. Grotle’s lower jaw is yellow in coloration and has triangular extensions on the cheeks. Grotle’s feet are also colored yellow, each with three claws.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Grotle has the ability to sense where pure water wells up.
Behavior
Grotle will sometimes start to roll around in dirt and mud. This allows minerals to seep in and make its shell even harder. Grotle may also carry acorn-like nuts on its bushes.
Habitat
Grotle live in forests, near sources of fresh water.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Much like Turtwig, Grotle nourishes itself through photosynthesis. It may also eat berries like most Pokémon.
In the anime
Major appearances
Grotle made its debut appearance in Aiding the Enemy!, when Ash's Turtwig evolved.
Minor appearances
A Grotle appeared in the opening scenes of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.
Pokédex entries
Tru Grotle
In the Pokemon Adventures manga
Tru
Diamond had a Grotle named Tru, which is his Turtwig's evolved form. It became stronger and (slightly) faster in this new form, but was scarcely used for battles, as it would have been ineffective against Gardenia's Grass-type Pokémon, though it still helped Platinum train for future Gym battles. Soon afterwards, the Grotle became a Torterra alongside chimler in veilstone fighting a legion of Galactic Grunts, and its power and endurance grew tremendously.
In the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! manga
diamond's Turtwig evolved into a Grotle off-screen and later into Torterra. torterra then started taking over the world being controlled by team galactic and turning people into slaves of team galactic by using their memory erasing machine. torterra also then turned pearl, and her pokemon into zombies which kept eating everyone's brain and turning them into zombies. they soon suffered from this and zombiefied the world leaving diamond and platinum as human(not zombies. they also turned team galactic into zombies and ash, dawn and Brock and their pokemon into zombies too.
