Sludge (Japanese: ヘドロこうげき Sludge Attack) is a damage-dealing Poison-type move introduced in Generation I.
Effect
Generation I
Sludge does damage and has a 40% chance of poisoning the target.
Generation II onward
Sludge now has a 30% chance to poison the target.
Sludge can be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining an extra appeal point if Sludge Bomb was used in the prior turn. It can also be used to start a combination, causing Sludge Bomb to give two extra appeal points if used in the next turn.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Sludge is a move with 12 base power, 88% accuracy and 22PP. The user attacks enemy in front of them, cutting corners, possibly inflicting poison.
In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move's PP has been decreased to 15.
