Notably, in 5★ Tera Raids exclusively, there was a chance to encounter Shiny Gimmighoul, which isn't possible to encounter during regular gameplay, however the chance for a 5★ Gimmighoul to appear as Shiny was the standard 1/4103.05 odds.

Possible rewards depend on the star rating of the raid and are as follows:
* In 1★ raids, the base rewards included Exp. Candy XS, Exp. Candy S and a Swift Feather. Additionally Chesto Berries, Persim Berries and Pretty Feathers are available as potential drops.
* In 2★ raids, the base rewards included 3 Exp. Candy S and a Swift Feather. Additionally Exp. Candy M, Chesto Berries, Persim Berries and Pearls are available as potential drops.
* In 3★ raids, the base rewards included Exp. Candy S, 2 Exp. Candy M, 2 Swift Feathers and 4 type matched Tera Shards. Additionally Sitrus Berries, Lum Berries, Big Pearls and Big Mushrooms are available as potential drops.
* In 4★ raids, the base rewards included 2 Exp. Candy M, 1 Exp. Candy L, 3 Swift Feathers and 4 type matched Tera Shards. Additionally Sitrus Berries, Lum Berries, Kelpsy Berries, Big Pearls and Nuggets are available as potential drops.
* In 5★ raids, the base rewards included Exp. Candy L, Exp. Candy XL, 5 Swift Feathers and 8 type matched Tera Shards. Additionally Rare Candies, Kelpsy Berries, Nuggets, Comet Shards, Modest Mints, PP Ups, Bottle Caps and Ability Capsules are available as potential drops.

Initially, from 15:00 UTC to approximately 17:30 UTC, there was a glitch in the event data for Pokémon Scarlet. Players with Scarlet who completed the event raids were shown reward screens showing multiple instances of "0 Tera Shards" as a reward, (due to a null item reward pool), and were prevented from joining the raids of Pokémon Violet players, who were unaffected by the bug. New event raid data was uploaded the server shortly after, with Scarlet players who connected online after 17:30 UTC receiving raids with correct reward pools, and being able to join raids hosted by players with Violet.

On June 6, 2023, it was announced that the 24th Tera Raid Battle Event would be the previously cancelled Great Tusk and Iron Treads Spotlight and second event period for the 7★ Chesnaught the Unrivaled raids, which were rescheduled to occur simultaneously between June 16 to 18, 2023.

These events were identical to the aforementioned glitched raid events, but resolved both issues, as both Great Tusk and Iron Treads no longer attempt to award the glitched TM Materials resulting in a game crash, and Iron Treads with random Tera Types are no longer prevented from being Shiny.

The 23rd Tera Raid Battle event was the Great Tusk and Iron Treads Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ!イダイナキバ&テツノワダチ Pickup! Idainakiba & Tetsunowadachi). Great Tusk and Iron Treads with random Tera Types were intended to appear more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from May 19 to May 21, 2023, with Great Tusk being found in Pokémon Scarlet, and Iron Treads being found in Pokémon Violet respectively, however the event was cancelled, only running for a brief period on May 19, 2023, between 00:00 and 02:00 UTC.

In addition to 2 randomized raids, 2 daily raids were guaranteed to have fixed Tera Type. Players with Scarlet had access to a 5★ Great Tusk den with a Steel Tera Type, and players with Violet had access to a 5★ Iron Treads den with a Ground Tera Type.

This event included two notable glitches during its initial introduction at  May 19, 2023:
* The item rewards attempted to grant and display TM Materials for Great Tusk and Iron Treads, despite both species not having associated TM Material items. This caused the item rewards screen for some players to display "None" as one of the item rewards, followed by the game crashing.
* All Iron Treads raids with random Tera types were erroneously coded never to appear as Shiny, despite both versions of Great Tusk, and the Iron Treads with the forced Ground Tera type being able to appear as Shiny at the standard 1:4103.05 odds.
At approximately 02:00 UTC on May 19, 2023, all event raids were removed from the server, (including the 7★ Chesnaught the Unrivaled event), replaced with completely blank event data for any players that connected during this time. The official Japanese twitter account issued an apology, but the event was eventually announced as being cancelled entirely. This is the first instance of a Poké Portal News event being removed from the server entirely to address a glitch.

Additionally, an announcement for a 7★ Delphox event running from May 26, 2023 00:00 UTC to May 28, 2023 23:59 UTC briefly appeared in the Pokémon HOME calendar on May 21, but was removed almost immediately, likely due to the cancellation of the prior event causing scheduling conflicts.

The Event was later rescheduled to return on June 16th to June 18th.

;Great Tusk
The Great Tusk appearing during this event had either random or Steel as their Tera Type.

The Chesnaught always had a Impish Nature, and all six IVs set to 31. During battle, it also had access to the moves Iron Defense, Bulk Up, and Curse, although these moves were not present after being caught.
It had several scripted actions that it performed at specific "percentage of HP remaining" or "percentage of time remaining" intervals, and will occur before the beginning of the next turn, (including if a condition is met before the player's first turn, such as "99% Time Remaining"). If there are two conditions, whichever condition is met first will trigger the corresponding action:

Additionally, the damage modifiers for its shield were changed to the following:
* Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 30% damage.
* Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Iron, 20 (30 if host) Rock Tera Shards, and 1 150, with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The first event period for Chesnaught occurred at the same time as the repeat Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Spotlight 5★ raid event, which ran between May 1 and 14, 2023. Both events were accessible during the May 12 to 14, 2023 period.
The second event period for Chesnaught occurred at the same time as the Great Tusk and Iron Treads Spotlight 5★ raid event, which was intended to run between May 19 to 21, 2023.  Both events were accessible during 00:00 to 02:00 UTC on May 19, 2023, but were cancelled to prevent a glitch with the item rewards from the Great Tusk and Iron Treads raids, causing no raid event to occur between May 19, 02:00 UTC and May 21 23:59 UTC.
May 1 to 14, 2023
Poké Portal News#February 27 to March 12, 2023
The 21st Tera Raid Battle event was a repeat of the February 27 to March 12, 2023 event, (as a direct response to the glitch that occurred during the previous event, allowing players running Scarlet or Violet v1.1.0 to encounter and catch a Bad Egg instead of the correct species), featuring Walking Wake for Pokémon Scarlet players and Iron Leaves for Pokémon Violet players in 5★ Tera Raid Crystals from May 1 to 14, 2023.
Players could only catch one Walking Wake and one Iron Leaves per save file (obtaining Walking Wake does not make the player ineligible to catch an Iron Leaves and vice versa), and players who previously obtained Walking Wake or Iron Leaves during the prior February 27 to March 12 event were ineligible to catch another, although the Tera Raid Battles could be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards.

In an attempt at resolving the aforementioned glitch, players were forced to update to Scarlet or Violet v1.3.0 before being able to access online features, (preventing players with an outdated game version from accessing the event), and event data is now stored in the savefile in version specific blocks. Due to v1.3.0 detecting if a Bad Egg was present and resetting the capture flag(s) for any players with Bad Eggs, those who previously obtained Bad Egg were permitted to catch another during this repeat event, however the Bad Egg itself was not removed from the affected player's storage.
February 12 to 15, 2024
This repeat event overlapped with the second event period for Inteleon the Unrivaled from May 5 to 7, 2023, and also overlapped with the first event period for Chesnaught the Unrivaled from May 12 to 14, 2023. During the overlapping event periods, both Walking Wake/Iron Leaves 5★ raids and respective 7★ raids were accessible.
Released in celebration of Valentine's Day, the 44th Tera Raid Battle event was Valentine's Day!. Luvdisc with the Fairy Tera Type appeared more frequently in 3 & 5★ Tera Raid Battles from February 12 to 15, 2024.

The 17th Tera Raid Battle event was the Ditto Spotlight (Japanese: 「さいこう」な メタモンが とびだしてきた! A "best" Metamon popped out!). Ditto with various Tera Types appeared more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from April 7 to 9, 2023.

Notably, as this event covers exclusively 5★ difficulty raids, 97% of Ditto that appear during this event have 5 of their 6 possible IVs set to 31, giving them a rating of "Best" in the Stats Judge, with 1 random IV randomized to a value ranging from 0 and 31.
The 43rd Tera Raid Battle event was Empoleon with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Empoleon the Unrivaled, which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals between February 2 to 4, 2024 & February 9 to 11. This Pokémon can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. It always has Ice as its Tera Type.
In addition to the randomized Ditto, there are three customized encounter slots with guaranteed properties, likely to account for the prevalence of breeding Pokémon with specific IV values for use in competitive play:
* There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have an Attack IV of 0.
* There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have a Speed IV of 0.
* There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have have all 6 IVs set to 31.

Item rewards included a chance to obtain certain items, in addition to typical rewards like Tera Shards,  Exp. Candy, and Rare Candy, many rewards appear to be themed around training and breeding Pokémon, such as:
The second half of this event also included a repeat of the 5★ Blissey Spotlight.
*3% chance to obtain 1 Rare Candy
*5% chance to obtain 1 of any Vitamin (excluding PP Max)
*1% chance to obtain an Everstone or Destiny Knot
*1% chance to obtain a Bottle Cap
*2% chance to obtain an Ability Capsule
*5% chance to obtain 1 of any of the Berries that lower the value of a Pokémon's EVs, (such as the Pomeg Berry which boosts Happiness but lowers HP EVs).

Connecting online and updating the Poké Portal News event data while on v1.1.0 of Scarlet or Violet resulted in a glitch. Due to the lack of species data existing in v1.1.0, the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves raids would appear as a Bad Egg instead. If caught, these Bad Eggs cannot be hatched, released, or traded, and catching the Bad Egg also erroneously set the flag for having caught Walking Wake or Iron Leaves, causing the player to be unable to attempt to catch another, even if they updated to v1.2.0 and attempted to join a non-glitched instance of the event raids. Updating the game to v1.2.0 did not result in the Bad Egg becoming the correct species, nor did it reset the aforementioned flag(s).
|type=Ghost

|type2=Fairy
This glitch was partially resolved with v1.3.0, which reset the capture flag(s) if you had obtained a Bad Egg, allowing players who obtained a Bad Egg previously to catch Walking Wake and/or Iron Leaves during the May 1 to 14, 2023 repeat event, however the Bad Egg itself was not removed from the affected player's storage.

Revision as of 13:15, 10 May 2024

Poké Portal News (Japanese: ポケポータルニュース Poké Portal News) is a feature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that expands on the available Tera Raid Battles in the Paldea region, making certain Pokémon more common for a limited time. It can be accessed via Mystery Gift or updated automatically by connecting to the internet in game. Certain species of Terastal Pokémon, some of which are rare, or otherwise unobtainable except via transfer, are made more common through Poké Portal News events.

Beginning in v2.0.1 of Scarlet and Violet, it became possible for event Mass outbreaks to occur via Poké Portal News as well, causing certain species of Pokémon to appear more commonly in Mass Outbreaks, which may have unique traits, such as a higher chance of having a specific Mark.

Tera Crystals and Mass Outbreaks associated with a Poké Portal News event will have a thicker, circular glowing border compared to their typical icons on the map and minimap. Event Tera crystals will additionally be surrounded by several ring-shaped auras when approached.

List of Mass Outbreak events

The following lists, in reverse chronological order, different Mass Outbreak events. The event periods for the given dates typically last between 00:00 UTC on the initial date, to 23:59 UTC on the end date, unless otherwise stated. However, if an event is active in the player's savefile, it will continue to be active until the player connects online, or updates their Poké Portal News after the event period ends.

The Golden Week Mass Outbreak event banner

In celebration of Golden Week in Japan, the tenth Mass Outbreak event featured several species of Pokémon whose shiny form is golden color. The event caused Magikarp and Varoom to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea, Shinx to appear in Mass Outbreaks in Kitakami, and Rellor in Mass Outbreaks in the Terarium.

Additionally, the Pokémon that appeared had a flat 0.5% bonus chance to be Shiny. This 0.5% bonus is applied separately, before conditions that affect Shiny chance, such as Shiny Power from Sandwiches or the Shiny Charm.[1]

March 29 to 31, 2024

Adorable Pokémon Mass Outbreak banner

In celebration of Easter, the ninth Mass Outbreak event featured several species of Baby Pokémon. The event caused Pichu and Happiny to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea, with Munchlax and Riolu appearing in Kitakami, and Elekid and Magby appearing in the Terarium.[2]

Additionally, the Pokémon that appeared had a flat 5% bonus chance to have the Vigor Mark, granting them the title the Lively. This 5% bonus was unaffected by Title Power from Sandwiches.

February 23 to 27, 2024

The Pokémon Day Mass Outbreak event banner

In celebration of Pokémon Day, the eighth Mass Outbreak event featured several species that resemble Poké Balls. The event caused Voltorb, Foongus, and, rarely, Hisuian Voltorb to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea.[3]

Additionally, the Pokémon that appeared had a flat 0.5% bonus chance to be Shiny. This 0.5% bonus was applied separately, before conditions that affect Shiny chance, such as Shiny Power from Sandwiches or the Shiny Charm.

January 26 to 28, 2024

Version-Exclusive event banner

The seventh Mass Outbreak event featured several version exclusive species which could each be encountered in Paldea. The event caused Gulpin, Stunky, Skrelp, and Clauncher to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea.[4]

Typically, Stunky and Skrelp only natively appeared in Pokémon Scarlet, with Gulpin and Clauncher only natively appearing in Pokémon Violet.

Additionally, the Pokémon that appeared had a flat 5% bonus chance to have the Uncommon or Rare Marks, granting them the titles the Sociable or the Recluse respectively. This 5% bonus was unaffected by Title Power from Sandwiches.

Unlike prior events, which mark a Pokémon was more likely to generate with differed between Scarlet and Violet:

 • In Scarlet, Stunky and Skrelp received a bonus for the Uncommon Mark, with Gulpin and Clauncher's bonus being applied to the Rare Mark.
 • In Violet, Gulpin and Clauncher received a bonus for the Uncommon Mark, with Stunky and Skrelp's bonus being applied to the Rare Mark.
