As the son of the professor, he never saw them in his life because of their devotion to their work, creating a strained relationship. Because of this, he grew up independent, learning to cook and clean, with his only companion being his Mabosstiff. He enjoys picnics, especially their outdoor settings and the Sandwiches made.

Prior to the player starting their adventure, Arven lived at the lightouse lab on Poco Path with his parent. One day, Professor Sada/Turo brought a KoraidonS/MiraidonV to their home and told Arven to keep it a secret. Later, the Legendary Pokémon would attack Wild Pokémon, and multiple people would witness it. With the secret out, the professor brought the Paradox Pokémon back to their lab in Area Zero, and Arven would not see them again until the events of the game. Due to this, he blamed Koraidon/Miraidon for taking his parent away from him and developed a hatred towards the legendary. Eventually, he would explore Area Zero with his Mabosstiff to find his motherS/fatherV, only for it to be attacked by a creature he describes as either "rampaging"S or a "metallic, machine"V. After taking a Flying Taxi out of The Great Crater of Paldea, he would try to heal Mabosstiff using a Pokémon Center and Potions, only for this attempts to fail as due to its injuries being a special case. In desperation, he would skip his classes to research and attempt almost every cure available, yet he was not successful.
