Location

The Sky Peak Mountain Path (Japanese: そらのいただき とざんどう Sky Summit Mountain Path) is a path of ten very similar mystery dungeons only accessible in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. This mountain path of ten passes connecting nine stations leads to the summit of Sky Peak, the mountain above Shaymin Village.

The first nine passes are named 1st Station Pass (Japanese: 1ごうめまでの みちのり Path to the 1st Station) to 9th Station Pass (Japanese: 9ごうめまでの みちのり Path to the 9th Station), while the tenth pass is known as the Sky Peak Summit Pass (Japanese: ちょうじょうまでの みちのり Path to the Summit). Each pass has between three and five floors each. The Pokémon encountered within these dungeons start with Pokémon generally found in Mystifying Forest in the first dungeons, and gradually phase them out for Pokémon generally found on Mt. Travail.

The dungeon is unlocked by graduating from Wigglytuff's Guild, waiting a day and then finishing at least one optional job, after which an announcement will be made at Spinda's Café that reveals the location. During the first visit of these dungeons, a Shaymin accompanies the player. Clearing Sky Peak will unlock the Sky Jukebox.

When reaching the summit for the first time, the place will be covered with filth. To clear it, the player needs to defeat three Muk and five Grimer. The Shaymin accompanying the player then absorbs the filth and cleans the summit. Team Frontier, a team including a Machoke, Mawile, and a Breloom, helps fight the Muk and Grimer during the first visit.

The player can recruit Shaymin by reaching the summit for a second time.

Gameplay

The floors are ranked E, ★2, ★3 and ★4 for the purpose of Treasure Boxes.

The floors are all large sized, and contain a varying amount of rooms. Specifically:

  • 3-7 rooms on floor 4 of Summit Pass
  • 3-8 rooms on floor 1 of 1st and 9th Station Passes, and floor 2 of Summit Pass
  • 3-9 rooms on floor 2 of 1st Station Pass, floor 4 of 8th Station Pass, and floor 3 of Summit Pass
  • 3-10 rooms on floor 1 of Summit Pass, floor 2 of 9th Station Pass, and floor 3 of 1st and 8th Station Passes
  • 3-11 rooms on floor 1 of 2nd Station Pass, floor 2 of 8th Station Pass and floor five of 9th Station Pass and Summit Pass
  • 3-12 rooms everywhere else
  • 3-14 rooms on floor 3 of 9th Station Pass

There are 2-3 starting enemies on all floors, as well as 2-5 items. There are also 2-5 items buried in the walls.

The turn limit is 1000. The enemies here have 150IQ. There is a 5% chance that an item generates as sticky. There is water on floor 3 of 1st and 8th Station Passes, floor 2 of 2nd Station Pass and Summit Pass, and floors 3 and 4 of 9th Station Pass. There is light darkness starting with 7th Station Pass. There is random weather on floor 2 of Summit Pass. The player cannot be rescued if knocked out in this dungeon. Hidden Stairs have a 50% chance to lead to a Hidden Room instead of a Secret Bazaar in this dungeon.

Grab Bags and Secret Rooms in this dungeon often contain Gummis and stat-boosting items.

Stations

At the end of each Pass, the player will reach a Station. Each Station has a Kangaskhan Rock with the ability both to save the game and, at the even-numbered Stations, to store items. The one exception is the 5th Station. Upon entering the 5th Station during the first visit, the player will encounter a group of hostile Carnivine which appear to be beating up a Sneasel. The player defeats these Pokémon with the help of Team Frontier. On each following visit, the 5th Station is completely empty.

In the even numbered Stations, there is a method of transport called Drifblim's Gondola, where a Drifblim can transport the player instantly between that Station, any previous even numbered Station, and the base camp at Shaymin Village. The only exception to this is the 8th Station, where an Ampharos lives. The first time the player climbs the mountain, a Pachirisu in 3rd Station will give the player a Sky Gift as a thank-you for saving the world if talked to. After finishing the 8th Pass and going into the 9th Station for the second time, the Ampharos will give the player a Sky Gift that the Sneasel they helped left behind.

The player might encounter four special Pokémon NPCs. Numel or Happiny at the 1st, 3rd, 5th or 7th Stations, Delibird at the 9th Station, and Jumpluff at the 1st, 3rd, 5th or 7th Station, or the summit.

  • Jumpluff and Delibird will give the player a Sky Gift.
  • The Happiny wants an Apple, Big Apple, Oran Berry, Reviver Seed, Max Elixir or Escape Orb, in exchange for a Sky Gift to be picked up by the player a few days later at Spinda's Café.
  • The Numel wants one of the Wonder Orbs listed below, in exchange for a random TM, HM, or a Prize Ticket.
