Liko's Armarouge (Japanese: リコのグレンアルマ Liko's Gurenarma) is the first Pokémon Liko caught in the Paldea region, and her fourth overall.

History

As a wild Pokémon

Charcadet joining Liko's team

Armarouge debuted as a Charcadet in The Terapagos I Don't Know, where it was seen living in the ruins of an ancient Paldean fort in South Province (Area Three) alongside a Nacli. It quickly befriended Pagogo, but eventually parted ways.

Over a year later, in The Knight in the Ruins, Charcadet reunited with Pagogo in the same ruins. Once it noticed some of its Pokémon friends were missing, Charcadet went looking for them with Pagogo accompanying it. Charcadet and Pagogo found its missing friends with Liko, as it witness her protecting them from a Laquium-afflicted Scovillain. Seeing Scovillain about to attack Liko when she went to protect Happiny, Charcadet canceled out the attack by using Ember and decided to battle the Spicy Pepper Pokémon. Thanks to its Flash Fire Ability, Charcadet was able to take in the opponent's Fire-type attacks and strike back with a boosted Ember, allowing Pagogo to intervene and purify the Laquium from Scovillain's body. Later, with the support of its friends, Charcadet chose to join Liko's team.

Armarouge and Amethio's Ceruledge

In Charcadet's Wish, Charcadet accompanied its Trainer to Amethio's mansion to search for clues regarding his whereabouts. Charcadet noticed a picture of Amethio and his Charcadet on a beach, which helped the group pinpoint his location. Charcadet was then used to battle Amethio's Ceruledge, being overwhelmed by it throughout the battle. However, Charcadet bravely refused to give up and eventually landed a powerful Ember on its opponent, motivating Ceruledge to strike it down with Shadow Claw, before the battle was called off. In spite of the battle being over, Charcadet was eager to fight again, developing a rivalry with Ceruledge.

Flash Fire activating

In Taking the Next Steps, Charcadet and Meowscarada were used in a Double Battle against Diana's Arcanine and Wash Rotom. Using its Flash Fire Ability, Charcadet kept its ally protected by absorbing Arcanine's Fire-type moves. Exploiting Charcadet's chivalry, Diana lured it into leaping in front of a Flare Blitz, then commanded Rotom to use Hydro Pump. Meowscarada moved Charcadet out of the way, but was left wide open in the process, allowing Arcanine to defeat her with another Flare Blitz. Diana lectured Charcadet for trying to protect its ally, only to end up needing to be saved and told it the importance of trusting its friends. Burning with determination, Charcadet continued the battle and successfully defeated Rotom, even learning Fire Spin, before getting overpowered and falling to Arcanine's Extreme Speed, making Diana the victor.

Charcadet wearing the Auspicious Armor it used to evolve

In The Six Heroes Unleashed!, Charcadet was used alongside the rest of Liko, Roy, and Ult's Pokémon to battle against five of the Six Heroes, who were under the influence of the Super Strong Spheres. Together, they stalled for time to allow Pagogo to purify the Laquium away from the heroes' bodies, but the Explorers used the Super Strong Spheres once more on them. In the next episode, despite its efforts, Charcadet was knocked out by Gouging Fire.

In Mochi Mayhem!, Charcadet received a set of Auspicious Armor from Diana. In the next episode, it was used alongside Amethio's Ceruledge to battle against Indi and Rubina's two Salamence. Despite struggling at first due to wearing its newly obtained armor, Charcadet adapted by using new battle tactics and alongside Ceruledge managed to hold their own against the two Dragon Pokemon. In the climax of the battle, it eventually evolved into Armarouge, learning Armor Cannon in the process and defeating the two Salamence, forcing Indi and Rubina to retreat. After the battle, Liko congratulated Armarouge on its Evolution before returning it to rest in its Poké Ball, as it was no condition to continue the mission.

In HZ127, Armarouge battled against Ann's Samurott. Both Pokémon were evenly matched and eventually Terastallized, resulting in a series of attacks that knocked both of them out, resulting in a draw.

In HZ134, Armarouge was sent out to battle the wild Pokémon that were affected by Laquium. However, Armarouge got hurt when it defended Meowscarada and Hatterene from an attack by an Onix and a Gliscor, so Liko returned it to its Poké Ball to rest.

In HZ136, Armarouge joined Liko, Meowscarada, and Hatterene in bidding Pagogo farewell when it decided to stay with the Six Heroes and Zygarde to restore Laqua, after the threat of Laquium was neutralized.

Personality and characteristics

Armarouge with Liko, Meowscarada, Hatterene, and Pagogo

Armarouge is an honorable and headstrong Pokémon, though somewhat reckless and impulsive at times, but believes fighting fair in battle. As a Charcadet, it had a strong fighting spirit and was willing to face opponents stronger than itself, both traits typical of its species. On occasion, however, this would get the best of it, and it would try to jump into battles even if the situation was unproper, with Meowscarada often restraining it. In addition, it has a heroic spirit and has been shown to be willing to defend anyone from trouble, such as in The Knight in the Ruins, when it protected the Pokémon living in its home from Pepper's Scovillain. Armarouge even has a way of sensing potential danger to its friends, as seen in HZ124, when it emerged from its Poké Ball on its own to protect Meowscarada and Dot's Quaxwell from getting attacked by Indi and Rubina's Salamence. Overall, Armarouge is friendly to both people and Pokémon alike.

One of Armarouge's defining traits is its chivalry. When it chose Liko to be its Trainer, it kneeled before her as if it was a knight, offering to protect her. Also, as a Charcadet, it had the habit of mounting on Pagogo's back akin to a knight riding a steed, something the Tera Pokémon also seemed to enjoy. In fact, this led to them quickly forming a friendship, which later led to Pagogo encouraging Charcadet to join Liko's team. However, its chivalrous nature can work against it and even be exploited, such as seen in Taking the Next Steps, when Charcadet tried to take on extra burdens and fight a Double Battle by itself, constantly trying to protect Meowscarada rather than trusting and working alongside her, which led to its teammate being defeated once their opponent thought to take advantage of this. After seeing the result of its actions and hearing Diana's words, Charcadet learned to rely on its teammates more, and, in Liko and Hattrem, Bonded by Happiness!, was seen working together with Meowscarada and Hatterene to save a Ditto.

Armarouge and Liko

Armarouge's bond with Liko is irreplaceable, having been brought together through their strong compassion and willingness to fight for others. It's also extremely loyal to Liko and would give its all for her, especially during Pokémon battles. Armarouge strides to uphold the promise they made when it was caught, to protect Liko from danger and keep her safe. Through Liko and Pagogo, Armarouge became close friends with Meowscarada and Hatterene, even seeing them as its older sisters. However, upon witnessing Meowscarada and Hatterene's selflessness and skills in battle, Armarouge has come to admire them and consider them its mentors. It maintains its bond with its teammates after evolving. Armarouge's bond with Meowscarada and Hatterene has become an unbreakable one, putting their safety first before its own, as seen in HZ134.

Since Charcadet's Wish, Armarouge has developed a rivalry with Amethio's Ceruledge; however, it also respects his battling skills and doesn't mind teaming up with him in battle, which led it to forming a friendship with the Fire Blades Pokémon. Armarouge has also shown high regard for other Fire-type Pokémon, such as Roy's Skeledirge, as it looks up to him and has been seen sparring with the former, even continuing doing so after evolving. Although, through their sparring and training battles, Armarouge has become very good friends with Skeledirge. Armarouge has a burning passion for battling, arguably more so than any Pokémon on Liko's team, and will battle any opponent, particularly other Fire types. In addition, Armarouge enjoys finding ways to become stronger and gets fired up with the idea, as seen in Better, Farther, Stronger!. Armarouge has shown to always be ready to train, even quickly finishing its food so it won't fall behind. After evolving, Armarouge has become much stronger in battle. Armarouge has also mellow out and no longer wants to jump into the battle, but still has passion for it.
