Creatures, Inc. (Japanese: 株式会社クリーチャーズ Kabushiki gaisha Creatures) is an affiliate of The Pokémon Company (which itself is a joint venture by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures).[1][2] It was founded on November 8, 1995[1][2] by Tsunekazu Ishihara with assistance of Satoru Iwata.[3][4] Creatures is one of the companies responsible for producing and licensing various aspects of the Pokémon franchise, including the Trading Card Game and other merchandise in Japan. Creatures owns one-third of the copyright to the Pokémon franchise (the other two-thirds owned by Game Freak and Nintendo). Its current president and CEO is Yuji Kitano, who succeeded the president position from Tsunekazu Ishihara and the CEO position from Hirokazu Tanaka on April 2023.[5][6][7]
The company was founded after the development team of Ape Inc. (known for creating the EarthBound series of video games) was disbanded. Ape still exists for the purpose of managing its IPs, and is an associate company of Nintendo and Hobonichi.[8][9]
As of April 2023, Creatures has 232 employees.[1][2]
