Artbox, a subsidiary of Ensky Japan, was a company licensed to produced stickers and lenticular Pokémon cards in Europe and North America from 1999 to 2006. Artbox was founded in 1995 under Amada Printing, a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of licensed products. The company had a large list of licensed properties, including Harry Potter, Dragon Ball, Marvel Comics, and The Lord of the Rings. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2011.
As the company is defunct, and most of their products released in 1999, its products are often seen in vintage Pokémon collections.
History
In Japan, Amada Printing's Pokémon Amada stickers were a huge success, with 23 different sticker sets released between 1996 and 2005. The success prompted the company to use their subsidiary, Artbox, to produce stickers for the Western market. The success in the Japanese market was not echoed internationally, so only one set consisting solely of stickers was produced. Follow-up sets contained mainly lenticular cards with sticker chase cards.
In total, four different sets were made consisting of a mix of stickers and lenticular cards. All products were released in booster boxes with booster packs. Depending on the set, each booster pack contains between 3 and 10 cards. Each set also has a specific collectors album, although not every card can be contained in them.
