Net Ball

The Net Ball (Japanese: ネットボール Net Ball) is a type of Poké Ball introduced in Generation III. It can be used to catch a wild Pokémon, being more likely to succeed against Water- or Bug-type Pokémon. It was developed in Mossdeep City.

Effect
Manual activation
When used from the Bag in a wild encounter, it attempts to catch the wild Pokémon. If used against a Water- or Bug-type Pokémon, it has an increased catch rate modifier (no additional bonus is applied if the Pokémon is both of these types). If the wild Pokémon's type has been changed during the battle by an effect such as Soak, the ball uses the new type for the purposes of calculation
Generations III to VI
If used against a Water- or Bug-type Pokémon, the Net Ball has a 3× catch rate modifier; otherwise, it has a 1× modifier.
Generation VII onward
If used against a Water- or Bug-type Pokémon, the Net Ball has a 3.5× catch rate modifier; otherwise, it has a 1× modifier. If used on an Ultra Beast, the catch rate modifier is instead always set to 410/4096× (~0.1×).
Held item
Fling fails if the user is holding a Net Ball.

In Stick This in Your Craw, Crawdaunt I, Mr. Briney used Net Balls to catch a trio of Wailmer he reeled in.
Emerald arc
A Net Ball appeared in A Sketchy Smattering of Smeargle while Emerald was thinking which of his Poké Balls he should use to catch Jirachi.
More of Emerald's Net Balls were seen in Sneaky Like Shedinja II, The Final Battle III, and The Final Battle V.

The Net Ball, first found in Fairy Rise, allows the player to search their deck for a Basic 
Pokémon or a Energy card and put it into their hand.
Trivia
- In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, a Sailor in the Mossdeep City Poké Mart mentions that Dive Balls and Net Balls are only made in Mossdeep. In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Sailor instead mentions that they used to be Mossdeep's specialties.
