Other Languages titles

I see you're adding the Danish titles for episodes of Pokemon Journeys, thanks for doing this but instead of listing the new titles at the bottom of the section, could you list them in the alphabetically fitting spot please as that is how we do them.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 18:48, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know. I saw that the template automatically alphabetizes it anyways so I wasn't sure if I needed to add it in order, but I'll do that from now on. Minibug (talk) 19:16, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Trainer lists

Good work adding some of the Kitakami Trainer lists. However, I feel it takes less space and is arguably easier to read if done like this. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:04, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

That is true, and I did consider that approach for it, but I figured removing the dependence on hovertext for the benefit of mobile users outweighed the problems from having two tables for each set of Trainers. Minibug (talk) 22:15, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
As a mobile user myself, I can understand that, but I still lean towards the more efficient solution. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:33, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
This same method is also used with B2W2's level and prize money info in regards to the prize money and level changes depending on the difficulty setting, aside from major boss battles where a Trainer's team also changes. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:41, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Spelling mistakes

Thanks for correcting all the spelling mistakes regarding Pokémon names on various pages, I have to say I'm shocked at how many there are.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 19:01, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately there are still a lot more to fix. I was also surprised with how many there have ended up being. Minibug (talk) 19:43, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bot edits

I understand that your automated edits are important, but could it have been possible to leave the edits to BulbaBot or some other thing that could make the edits without flooding the recent edits history? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:30, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the large amount of edits. I think BulbaBot uses the same software that I do for making automated edits, PyWikiBot, so the next time I need to make so many edits I could ask someone with access to BulbaBot to run my script. PyWikiBot has a botflag parameter that should hide the edit like with BulbaBot, but it doesn't seem like it works for me. Minibug (talk) 11:45, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Advice

Please use "×" instead of "x" when listing multiples of something. Also, many Paldea Trainer lists lack the {{Trainerdiv}} templates they should have. Good job adding the item lists, though. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 01:51, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for letting me know, I thought I was already using "×" but I guess I never updated it in my script like I thought I did. -Minibug (talk) 02:10, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Recent trivia

Just letting you know, when adding trivia about gaps between appearances, can you use earlier instead of ago please.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 18:49, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know. I was using that phrasing because I copied it from another page, so maybe some cleanup on the drought sections is in order. -Minibug (talk) 19:19, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wait, Necrozma has the 255 Catch Rate in Indigo Disk still?

I legitimately thought it reverted back to 3. - unsigned comment from PrincessVidel (talkcontribs)

Necrozma's catch rate is 255 in Indigo Disk, I checked the data myself. Can I ask where you saw a source claiming it was changed to 3? -Minibug (talk) 16:26, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

How to check EISBN

Originally when VIZ began their digital releases years ago, on each page of their separate digital page which first becomes available on the day of release, I personally go to VIZ's website and copy their eISBN-13 for the digital ISBN codes one example is this link [1]. This is how all the EISBN codes were added in the first place for every VIZ digital release. -Tyler53841 (talk) 23:44, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Re:Black & White subtitles from Shogakukan Asia

Yes. Shogakukan asia started off translating the manga on their own, including manga that is previously not translated such as Be the Best! Pokémon B+W. however, from pokemon adventure vol 46 onwards, all pokemon translation are licensed from viz media, thus all manga that are released by shogakukan asia are released later than viz media, and we no longer have any more original translation unlike chuang yi giving us many pokemon manga that are previously not translated. -Pokeant (talk) 11:24, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Template Data fields

Hey, just thought I'd mention, when adding TemplateData, the type of a paramater should be "Line" for short text (that should not contain line breaks), and "String" if it can contain line breaks.[1]PikaTepig999 02:53, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Encounter rates for Sinnoh route 210

The edit for the encounter rates was at least partially wrong, swablu can be found in all times of day(just tested it in game to be sure). I assume it was just a typo on your end? I undid the edit for now, feel free to double check the numbers and resubmit. Jucatorul (talk) 16:17, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

descriptions for items in games they do not appear in

hi, i'm not sure if this is proper form, but i've noticed you've been editing a lot of item pages to make their most recent description listed as their description in all future games, including games where they don't appear at all. to me, this seems misleading and inappropriate. i doubt that the Contest Costume, for example, is anywhere in the code of SV, but seeing a description listed for it in those games suggests it is. your edits to Z-Crystals in particular suggest that they got new descriptions in scarlet and violet. i haven't looked at the internals of these games, so i may be wrong about all of this, but i'd like to know the reason behind these edits. lilycove 00:31, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Almost every item and its description will get carried over between games/generations. For whatever reason, these item descriptions will occasionally be updated even if the item itself appears nowhere in the game. In fact, sometimes even item *names* get changed even when the item isn't obtainable, like how Scarlet and Violet changed the name of the Rainbow Wing into Rainbow Feather even though its been inaccessible since Generation IV. Minibug (talk) 00:36, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
odd. well, thank you very much for clarifying! lilycove 00:38, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Quest Ingredient formatting

Hi! So I noticed the edit done on Balm Mushroom and I'm of the conflicted sort regarding it. I included the three adjectives and one noun because those are the key words the cooking feature uses and so the description is demonstrating the game's rules. The format is a little silly, because it's based on Bluk Berry, "a blue ingredient that is soft, small, and sweet," and I figured that its best to lean into the madness and phrase it consistently even if "sweet" and "mushroom" do not have the same part of speech. (In hindsight, maybe trying to squeeze "sweet" into a noun format works better than pretending three different nouns are adjectives.)

Similarly, calling out the color a second time was also a means of demonstrating what to pay attention to, in the "oh, if grey ingredients are common here, then it is also where to go to find Fossils." (That and it matches how the information is being displayed in the game, as a color wheel representing unseen percentages.) Salmancer (talk) 23:18, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for clarifying, I'm not very familiar with Quest and your wording with using "mushroom" as an adjective confused me a bit. I also did not realize these characteristics weren't just flavor text. Do you think we could change the wording to something like "This ingredient can be used in any recipe that requires ingredients that are soft, precious, gray, or mushrooms"? Minibug (talk) 23:40, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't think so. Quest Cooking follows strange rules. The game goes down the list of recipes and picks the first one that matches the full set of ingredients used. This means that later recipes start to get more and more specific about allowed ingredient combinations in ways the suggested sentence can't quite quantify. I'd need to think about it. Maybe, "When Cooking, this ingredient has the following properties: soft, precious, gray, mushroom"? That leans perhaps too gamey. Salmancer (talk) 23:51, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Minibug! I just wanted to talk to you about the Edit i've made in the page of the Heroes of Truth and Ideals. Trainersurrel0409 (talk) 19:51, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

What did you want to talk about? Minibug (talk) 23:26, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well you reverted my edits, i do understand why, but i think it's a little weird having the heroes's Pokémon only in the anime section, specially since all versions of them had the same Pokémon, the original dragon, Reshiram, and Zekrom. Trainersurrel0409 (talk) 23:39, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Generally each section will have screenshots of the Pokémon in question from each piece of media, but I don't believe there are depictions of them with their dragons outside of the anime, so there's no screenshots in those sections. Minibug (talk) 23:44, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

As far as i know, no, but i just kinda hoped to make it similar to the Galarian kings's page, also we definetely should add the original dragon as one of their Pokémon as well. Trainersurrel0409 (talk) 00:06, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Duraludon

As I explained in my edit summary, it's wrong no matter whether you use "comprises" or "comprised of", they refer to separate individual parts of a whole like "the USA comprises 50 states", the states are individual entities. This is not the case with the writing on Duraldon's Pokédex entry. Duraldon's case is a "what material is it made of thing", so you cannot use "comprises" or "comprised of in this instance, you would need to used "made of", or "composed of" as it's about its chemical composition. So please undo your edit, because it's wrong even if you think "comprised of" is correct, thanksHuntress (talk) 19:03, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm waiting for a response because your edit was 100% wrong, because let me reiterate, comprise refers to separate individual parts of a whole, while this in this instance, it's a what material is it made of thing.Huntress (talk) 09:21, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I reverted your edit because many dictionaries consider "comprised of" and "composed of" to be synonyms, and most native speakers would not consider it an error as it has been in common use for many decades now. Of course, you are always encouraged to bring this up on the talk page and see if other people agree that the sic tag should be reinserted. Minibug (talk) 09:29, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I just did some quick research, and what I noticed was that all of the sentences were to do with parts of a whole, this is not the case here where it's talking about its chemical composition. All the sites were saying things like "the whole comprises it's parts" but again not the case here as the material Duraldon is made of is not an individual part. Plus when it comes to the argument that "comprise" and "compose" are synonyms, this isn't true as they both have different subtle meanings, and as for the argument that many native speakers won't find it incorrect, but many would do that argument is moot. So why not have the "sic" tag? This would make it safer as then the people who do consider it incorrect won't cringe at the perceived error.Huntress (talk) 10:00, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

SWord and Shield Vol. 10

Just to let you know, even in the past, I carefully used my copy to carefully spell it the way it is in the table of contents and make sure to spell it correctly. Could be a misprint or deliberate for that aforementioned chapter title. Tyler53841 (talk) 15:35, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adventures volumes Proposal

I am also thinking if you want to set up an external link section to the official volume pages on Viz.com since it is a good resource to help point the someone in the right direction for that page and it is also a good place to find both the physical and digital release. Every EISBN code I added for every main volume digital release came from that site which is only available upon release. -Tyler53841 (talk) 15:35, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit reversions

I saw you undid a couple of my edits, and I wanted to dispute them.

One is the sic tag on EP070. Sic is used to indicate that a text is being directly quoted from the original source instead of paraphrasing to fix grammatical errors. "Go west young Meowth" should have a comma after west, but the title card didn't have one. The tag is meant to acknowledge this so readers don't assume the error is on the wiki's part.

The second is on the nuzlocke page where you removed the trivia about TPC disapproving of nuzlockes. Although you quoted a claim from the article that they don't mind nuzlockes, this takes out the context of the statement. Kat and Krysta provided insight into a conversation not known to the public and explained how they almost lost their jobs over it - this causes backlash to TPC, who then respond with a correction. Given that Kat and Krysta had just left an NDA contract and talked about behind the scenes conversations that they weren't allowed to before, and that TPC only made a statement in response to backlash, Kat and Krysta are the more reliable source here. The trivia could be rewritten with a neutral stance to either statement if needed.

Pallukun (talk) 19:47, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Personally I think that we should only use the {{sic}} tag if the average native English speaker would recognize that there is a grammatical/spelling error. Now that you mention that there should be a comma, I can see it, but I genuinely did not see what mistake the {{sic}} tag was indicating. Feel free to bring this up in the Bulbapedia Discord or the episode's talk page to see what the consensus should be for whether the tag should be included, if people clearly see it as an error I would have no issue in adding it back.
As for the Nuzlocke thing, the part of the article I quoted from Joe Merrick further claims that its a miscommunication and that TPCi's stance on Nuzlockes has been consistent for "a long time", which of course would predate whatever correction they put out, and PKMNcast made a tweet saying the same thing. I think the most you can say about this situation is that a misunderstanding occurred where whoever Kat and Krysta reported to was not familiar with what a Nuzlocke was and acted in a way not consistent with how they should have.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean about rewriting the trivia to "a neutral stance to either statement", but I think it could be re-added with it presented as a standalone incident and not indicative of TPCi's policy towards Nuzlockes/challenge runs in general. Minibug (talk) 11:41, 18 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I was trying to suggest unbiased reporting but forgot the word. We could write it as just a plain "this happened" since that creates less friction. I also added the discussion for sic on the EP070 talk page. Pallukun (talk) 20:28, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Gothita and Evolution's Origin

Hello! Recently I noticed some edits regarding the potential origins for Gothita and her evolutions (Gotherita and Gothitelle) made by the user Team Rocket Grunt.

I tried to engage in conversation with said user on their talk page to hear their detailed reasoning on the claims they made, but the discussion made literally no progress. From the attempt to hear them out, I came to the conclusion the proposed theory is not only notably low-quality and a textbook example of confirmation bias, but also contains straight up inaccurate information. As such I believe it should be removed, however this would likely start an edit war since no consensus was reached.

Since you mediated a previous discussion between me and them regarding Bombirdier, I decided to approach you for an official staff position on the topic, mainly to preemptively avoid a back and forth of edits. If there might be a more appropriate staff member to deal with this sort of discussion please let me know (maybe FireForce, since they often engage with the Origin sections?).

The user's theory on the Gothita's line goes as: the line stares at stars, so they're based on astrology concepts such as the horoscope. Gothorita represents Libra, Gothitelle represents Virgo. Gothita represents Taurus, and this is supposedly supported by it appearing in an oficial Year of the Ox post — a pun regarding its Japanese category "Gyoushi Pokémon", where supposedly both "gyo" and "ushi" are common readings for the kanji that means cow (牛).

My issues with said theory:

  • The three proposed signs are completely arbitrary, and have no correlation between them: they do not belong in the same elemental groups, they're not signs in succession, and they're not constellations near each other.
  • While what was proposed for Gothorita and Gothitelle is less of a stretch, Gothorita is already associated with the Virgo in the official Unova Horoscope, not Libra, implying that it — and potentially the entire line — might only represent the Virgo constellation.
  • Gothita being added in the Year of Ox post is definitely a tongue-in-cheek pun, however it's all it seems to be. It doesn't mean Gothita was conceptually designed to be representative of a cow as they propose. It doesn't seem to have anything that might reference or imply that it is a major inspiration in its design, names, Pokédex entries, moves, abilities, Egg groups, evolution method, nor interspecies relationships.
  • To provide a counterexample of what could be expected from a Pokémon that includes this sort of pun I mentioned Gastrodon to the user, who was also in the Year of the Ox post. Gastrodon has cow-like traits, which likely comes from a Japanese name for sea slugs "Umiushi" (lit. sea cow). This is reflected in its Japanese Pokémon species, potential reference in names, some of its design (the horn-like feelers on its head), and some references such as it being owned by Ranchers in the Pokémon Adventures manga. If Gothita was based on an ox or cow like Team Rocket Grunt proposed it seems only fair to expect some similar nods, however there seem to be none as the user ignored any requests for other examples that might support their theory.
  • Lastly, one of their main arguments of Gothita being a "clear" Taurus constellation representation was that "Gyoushi" being a double pun was meticulous choice by its designers. This turns out to be factually wrong as the only pun here is the "ushi". The kanji 牛 does not have the claimed "gyo" (or "gyō") reading: instead it is read as "ushi" or "gyū" (as in Wagyū beef). It seems obvious to me that "Gyoushi" ending in "ushi" is just a coincidence that was made fun of later on. Japanese has a fairly limited amount of sounds, and as consequence can accidentally be fairly "punny". The user clearly has no understanding of the language but still decided to publicly present misinformation on the pages in an attempt to give any sort of credibility to the theory.

For now, I plan on editing those pages, as nothing seems better than questionable theories and false information. A staff stance on this debate asap to avoid it from escalating into an edit war would be appreciated since none of the involved parties seems to agree.

Thanks, cheers.

Help with my Draft article

Hey, sorry to bother you with this request. I created a draft for Trip's Conkeldurr in my UserPage, but I'm struggling with the correct numbers of the evolutions in-between episodes and also the images of the Moves used is missing, since I had no idea how to properly fix them. Remote link for April Fools' Day

Hello. I need to know what was wrong with the first link. Bulbapedia has similar links to other sites. Modesty Elyon (talk) 16:40, 31 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

There's nothing wrong with linking to external sites, but for this in particular I don't think we need to link to something immediately, we can wait until the official Pokemon Go site posts about it, as we have done on previous AFD pages. Minibug (talk) 16:45, 31 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ah, that's the thing. But because of the time difference, something comes out earlier or later for someone. And I thought that since Bulbapedia links to similar sites, it's not a problem, and I initially attached the link so that it would be clear where this info came from.
