Leafeon (Japanese: リーフィア Leafia) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee when it is leveled up near a Moss Rock. It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, and Glaceon.

Biology

Physiology

Leafeon is an Eeveelution that bears similarities to both cats and foxes. Its body is tan colored. It has one shade of dark brown that is carried out on the tip of its paws, as its eye color, and in the center of the ear. It has sprouts growing all over it, making it look more like a plant. It has a longer sprout of its forehead that takes a bit of an 'S' shape. Leafeon ears and tail both share a leaf-like quality.

Gender differences

There are no known gender differences.

Special abilities

Leafeon can use any attack that Eevee knows with the addition of Template:Type2 attacks. Its leaves are apparently quite sharp since it can learn Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, and other slicing attacks. As a fully-evolved Pokémon, Leafeon can learn Hyper Beam, and Giga Impact. It can also clean the air around it.

Behavior

It is pacifistic, preferring to obtain food with photosynthesis than competing with other Pokémon and foraging.

Habitat

As an Eevee, it chooses to live anywhere it wants. From there, it can evolve to its surroundings. In this case, Eevee has lived in a forest and evolved into Leafeon.

Diet

It gets its food from photosynthesis; if there is no sunlight, it will eat fresh leaves.

Major appearances

Leafeon made its debut anime appearance in Double-Time Battle Training! under the ownership of Zoey. It appeared again in Coming Full-Festival Circle! in the Sinnoh Grand Festival battling against Nando's Lopunny and Kricketune.

Minor appearances

Leafeon first appeared in a small cameo in the movie Giratina and the Sky Warrior. It was seen with an Eevee and the other six Eeveelutions.

Trophy Information

A Fresh Snow Pokémon and a Verdant Pokémon. They are both evolutions of Eevee. Eevee can evolve into seven different Pokémon depending on what it has in its possession and where it is when it evolves. Glaceon is an Template:Type2 and can freeze all the fur on its body into protective quills. Leafeon is a Template:Type2, and the air around it is always fresh and clean.

Trivia

• Leafeon is tied with Umbreon and Vaporeon for the tallest Eeveelution.
• According to the Diamond and Pearl Pokédex, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Umbreon have identical footprints.
• As Eterna Forest is not accessible in HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions, it is impossible to access the Moss Rock to evolve Eevee into a Leafeon in the games. The same applies for Glaceon, though instead of Eterna Forest it is Route 217 with the Ice Rock. Both have to be traded from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Versions to be obtained. It is also inaccessible in Black and White Versions; however, players can now evolve Leafeon and Glaceon by leveling up next to the Moss Rock in Pinwheel Forest and the Ice Rock in Twist Mountain, respectively.
  • This also occurs for Magnezone and Probopass, who both evolve in Mt. Coronet, a location in Sinnoh. They, like Leafeon and Glaceon, now evolve in a different location in Generation V: Chargestone Cave.
• Leafeon is the only Eeveelution that has the same Special Defense as its pre-evolution; all other Eeveelutions have a higher Special Defense than Eevee.

Origin

Leafeon bears many similarities to cats and foxes, such as its behaviors like tree climbing, and its cry sounds similar to a cat's meow or a foxes chirping. Its coloration appears to be inspired by the markings found on animals like the Siamese Cat or the Red Fox. It also has traits of plants, such as the ability to utilize photosynthesis. The brown marks of its paws give the appearance that they were buried. In Japan, and around the world, there are stories about domesticated animals that upon entering the forest become wild and eventually become one with it. Leafeon could be an exaggerated example of this story.

Name origin

Its name is derived from leaf. The -eon suffix, common to all Eevee evolutions, comes from Eevee's prototype English name and possibly refers to the ending suffix of evolution itself.
