Trivia
- Gothorita shares the same species name with Grumpig. They are all known as Manipulate Pokémon.
- Gothorita represents September in the Unova horoscope.
- Gothorita's Black Pokédex entry mentions its apparent behavior of hypnotizing people and "stealing them away", which is a trait shared with Hypno. Despite this, it cannot learn Hypnosis.
- Despite its White Pokédex entry saying that starlight is the source of its power, it can't learn Cosmic Power.
- Gothorita was going to be a dual type Psychic/Dark Pokémon.
Origin
Gothorita is based on a young girl dressed in the gothic lolita fashion. Considering its connection to stars, it slightly resembles the constellation of Scorpio.
Name origin
Gothorita may be a combination of "goth" and "señorita", the Spanish word for "miss", or corruption of gothic lolita. Gothimiru may be a combination of the English word "gothic" and 見る miru (to observe), or perhaps 見る目 mirume (discerning eye).
