Peakychu (Japanese: うすチュウ Usuchu) is a supporting character in Pokémon Pokopia. She is a Pikachu that is unusually pale for her species and has a smaller than average tail. According to her Pokédex entry, she is a "Pale form" Pikachu. Peakychu also appears to emit a strange glow from her body.[2]
History
Background
Shortly prior to the disappearance of humans, Peakychu shared much of her electricity with her friends, Pichu, Toxel, and Dedenne, to help nurse them through an illness. However, this had the unexpected side effect of altering her own physical structure to the point where she lost the ability to generate her own electricity entirely. However, she can still manipulate electricity if she receives electrical charge from an external source.
Pokémon Pokopia
In the Bleak Beach area, Peakychu is found by Meowth and Trubbish, where she is in a mostly unconscious state amongst a bed of flowers. When waking up and meeting Ditto, Peakychu shares that she can't remember what life was like prior to humans disappearing, and learns that she is unable to generate electricity on her own. Her "peaky" appearance would be the inspiration for her new nickname. Her memory slowly returns as progress is made on restoring the city, which she shares with Ditto and Professor Tangrowth, teaching them about utility poles that can be spread around the area to light up street lamps. Once enough sources of electricity are restored, Peakychu uses power from a charged generator to illuminate the entire city temporarily, in an attempt to wake up Mosslax.
In the Sparkling Skylands area, Peakychu must be invited to help restore the fourth floor of a huge building. She will return to Bleak Beach shortly after construction finishes.
Back in Bleak Beach, more of Peakychu's memory returns to her. She recalls caring for a family, who she would support by sharing her electricity with them. Peakychu asks Ditto to find members of her family and reunite them with her. Pichu is found in Withered Wasteland with a "picnic set" habitat, Toxel is found in Rocky Ridges with a "lazy photo-album scrolling" habitat, and Dedenne is found in Sparkling Skylands with a "tire park" habitat. Once all three have been brought back to Peakychu in Bleak Beach, she shows them her ability to illuminate the area by taking in electricity.
Appearance
Peakychu is a Pikachu who is mostly grey-white in color. The red of her electrical sacs and the black tips of her ears are mostly drained of their color. Her ears droop down rather than point upright, and will perk up slightly when expressing excitement. Peakychu has slightly larger eyes compared to usual Pikachu. Her tail is notable in that it is much smaller compared to others of her species. The tail also has a notch making a heart shape at the end, a trait all female Pikachu have.
Personality and characteristics
Peakychu is a patient and kind character who does whatever she can to support those around her, and has a distinctly refined manner of speaking. She loves her family a lot, proven by the fact that she would give up her electric-generating abilities in an attempt to nurse them back to good health, and that she would wish to meet them again the moment she starts remembering them. She is also very calm, given she doesn't seem distressed over having lost memories and the ability to generate electricity. Peakychu may have continued interest in nursing others, as she is able to move into a "full recovery" habitat.
Peakychu has the Illuminate specialty, which lets her light up an entire town.
