Rocky Ridges
Sparkling Skylands and Withered Wasteland
Location

Location of Rocky Ridges in Kanto.

Rocky Ridges (Japanese:ゴツゴツやまの街 Rugged Mountain Town) is one of two areas in Pokémon Pokopia that can be unlocked after meeting Kyogre in Withered Wasteland, the other being Bleak Beach. It is what remains of Pewter City after a series of catastrophic weather anomalies ravaged the world and forced humans to take refuge in space.

Ditto arrives in Rocky Ridges through the gate from Withered Wasteland, accompanied by Professor Tangrowth.

Rocky Ridges is connected to the Sparkling Skylands to the east, and Withered Wasteland to the south-east through gates.

Places of interest

Ridge Pokémon Center

The Ridge Pokémon Center is initially a pile of rubble on a stone platform, having been torn down by extreme weather. It is eventually rebuilt by Ditto and a group of other Pokémon, after which a note can be found on the floor inside, alongside a counter with a cash register, a 3D printer, a healing machine, and some furniture.

Kitchen

Chef Dente is first met in a storage room connected to a kitchen, buried under the hill across from the Pokémon Center, after rescuing her from a hanging barrel. In order to save Chef Dente, Ditto learns how to cook meals to power up its moves.

DJ Rotom's room

DJ Rotom is first met after Ditto investigates a stereo speaker system in a room buried in the hill directly east of the Pokémon Center. This room is an extension of a tunnel in the abandoned mines underneath Rocky Ridges, this section leading to the ruins of the Pewter Museum of Science.

Pewter Museum of Science

The ruins of the Pewter Museum of Science can be found in the northern part of Rocky Ridges, either by breaking through the walls blocking access through the mines, or by climbing over the ash covered hills. Ditto can meet Gimmighoul here, with the collect allowing Ditto to trade Rainbow Feathers, Silver Feathers, or appraised large lost relics for other items.

Demographics

While there are no longer any humans living here, Bleak Beach is inhabited by a handful of Pokémon before Ditto starts making new habitats.

Not counting Ditto and Professor Tangrowth, Bleak Beach is initially inhabited by three Pokémon:

Additionally, some Pokémon appear without their habitat as Ditto completes requests:

Artificial Hot Springs Now Open! Newspapers "On the 8th of this month, an artificial hot spring
debuted in Area 7’s communal bath area.

This hot spring recreates the quality spring water
found in Lavaridge Town in the Hoenn region.

If it proves popular, there are plans to install hot
springs in each area."

I can’t think of anything! I need to have FOUR design
proposals ready in two days, but I’m coming up blank!

I was begging my Smeargle for help, and he scribbled
some random patterns on a piece of paper and
handed it to me. Are those design pitches? That’s
so cute!

Actually...that gives me an idea. Back to work!"

Hacker's confessions #5 Diary Entries "While humanity is evacuated into space, all of the
Pokémon in the world are to be stored and protected
in a massive computer system. That is the Pokémon
Conservation Project.

An incredible plan. But the foundation members said
that in order to avoid panic they had to keep both
the disaster and the project out of the public eye as
much as possible.

Naturally this left them shorthanded.

Skilled computer technicians were in particularly
high demand.

That's why the foundation sought me out after I
discovered the disaster—recruitment.

I took them up on their offer.

Until this point, I had always lived as I pleased.
But if I could save Pokémon using my skills, I had
to do it.

The work was tough but also rewarding.

Eventually, the public began to take notice of the
disaster. The foundation gradually evacuated
those who noticed to a “safe place,” but to avoid
panic, they waited until the last minute to tell people
that their destination was space.

In the middle of this unbelievable situation, I found
a flaw in the plan."

Professor's diary #4 Diary Entries "It was decided that we will take part in the Pokémon
Conservation Project.

It’s a plan to safely store all Pokémon on the planet
in a massive computer system while humanity takes
refuge in space.

I can’t be sure that such a thing is even possible,
and being parted from our Pokémon will be terribly
painful, but...
this may be the only way that people and Pokémon
will be able to live together again someday.

I was also asked to join a survey team after we move
to space, but I held off on responding.

After humanity relocates, a small group will be sent
back to the planet to survey the environment and do
maintenance on the conservation system. But given
my age, I don’t know if I'll still be spry enough to be
of much help. I think it’s a task best left to the young."

Chef's diary Diary Entries "March 13

Charlotte appears to be interested in cooking! I tried
teaching her a bit, and she’s really quite good at it.
She's very dexterous with those little Greedent
hands, and it took almost no time before she was
able to help me out with simple tasks.

June 27

Charlotte’s an eager eater, but the one food she
doesn’t like is Chesto Berries. She made a rather
strained expression when I fed her some.

A chef shouldn’t be picky about things like that, but
I'd feel bad forcing her to eat something she doesn’t
like. What to do...

July 3

I made a special soup just for Charlotte using Chesto
Berries as a secret ingredient. She seemed to really
like it, and she appeared very satisfied as she finished
off the whole pot! I wonder how shocked she'd be if
she knew it had Chesto Berries. I look forward to the
day when she figures it out."

Team R Grunt's journal #4 Magazines "Let me tell you all about what happened while I was
looking for Leppa Berries to try and complete this
mission for the boss.

There's been a bunch of extreme weather or whatever
recently that’s killing off all the trees, but I FINALLY
found a tree that still had berries on it!

But as soon as I started shaking the tree to get the
berries off, some super serious-looking lady came
up and started yelling at me!

She was like, “Those are NOT for you! They're for
Pokémon! There are already FAR too few berries!”

Blah blah blah. She was so annoying! But something
else she said was actually kinda interesting...

Apparently she’s making an app or something to get
a bunch of people to work together and create a
comfortable environment for Pokémon to live in.

Basically, if you do good stuff for the environment...
the app will reward you with cool prizes!

In other words, she’s gonna bribe people to work for
her by promising ‘em cool stuff. Not a bad idea!

And that gave ME a GREAT idea!

I bet I could complete that mission the boss gave me
by doing kind of the same thing!"

N/A
Team R Grunt's journal #5 Magazines "So I went ahead and got some prizes ready.

I went with Gym Badges! People are crazy about those
things, y'know? These are fake ones, though!

Now I just gotta get some nice little Pokémon Trainers
to come work for free!

But that’s got me kinda stumped. All the Trainers I try
to talk to in town just look at me like I’m suspicious
and ignore everything I say.

I dunno if my handiwork was no good or if I just have
a face that only a mother could trust, but I gotta say
that this whole thing’s got me feeling kinda down.

I even had to report to the boss and tell him that the
mission wasn’t going well. I just didn’t have a choice.

But the boss didn’t get mad! He just gave me a pep
talk and even let me in on some ultra-top-secret intel
about our warehouse!"

Poké Life Dev Diary #2 Magazines "Like-minded individuals have been slowly joining my
cause as I continue to create homes for Pokémon.

I greatly appreciate the support those individuals
provide, but we have all begun to grow tired as the
meteorological anomalies and resulting natural
disasters continue to worsen.

We need more time, and we need more help.

I have recently begun hearing rumors that there
are plans to temporarily evacuate all of humanity
into space.

If these rumors are true, does that mean that all of
our efforts have been in vain?

My collaborators seem anxious as well. Perhaps they
are of the same mind as I..."

Poké Life Dev Diary #4 Magazines "We have developed an app that will allow all
members of our society to participate in creating a
comfortable environment for Pokémon and humans.

The budget and staff required to accomplish this feat
were provided by the foundation, and the app can be
accessed by anyone via Pokémon Center PC.

Participants can start with easy tasks, such as watering
dry ground or planting the seeds of various plants—
anything that will please nearby Pokémon. The app
will reward the participant with virtual “coins,” which
can in turn be exchanged for a variety of prizes.

This was my first time developing an app, and it was
quite the challenge. However, with the help of many
talented collaborators, we finally succeeded.

The name of the app is Poké Life."

Someone's journal #3 Notes "A long time ago, this city was packed with people
working in the nearby mines. Apparently, it was a
pretty lively place.

At least, that’s what I heard from the chef at the little
restaurant I visited with <player>.

There’s no sign of that restaurant anymore. But I
guess it’s not surprising, given those vicious volcanic
eruptions. Who could live in a place like this now?

The food we had at that restaurant was incredibly
delicious. The whole time the chef was cooking,
<player> was watching intently.

It’s always been so full of curiosity. I've noticed it
seems particularly interested in the things humans do.

I wish we could have traveled together more. There
are so many things I wanted to show it."

I also look at this photo when I’m lonely. I hope this
