In the anime
His Japanese voice actress is 岡村明美 Akemi Okamura and his English voice actor is Marc Thompson. Unlike the games, he knows about his syndicate's goal to capture Dialga and Palkia.
Saturn made his first appearance at the ending of A Secret Sphere of Influence!, though it was a brief appearance at the end of the episode. He, along with the other Team Galactic Grunts, commented that Jessie, James and Meowth did a lousy job at stealing the Adamant Orb for them, and framing Nando for the crime.
Saturn later reappeared in Journey to the Unown!, along with his Bronzor. He managed to steal a cube that was under the guard of the Unown of the Solaceon Ruins and brought it with him back to the Team Galactic HQ.
Saturn appeared again in Enter Galactic!, with the cube he obtained in Journey to the Unown!, which he exposed to the meteorites in Veilstone City, transforming it into the Spear Key. Later, he and a few Galactic Grunts went to go steal the meteorites, but ended up meeting Ash and his friends for the first time. He also battles Brock and his Croagunk with his own Toxicroak, but it ends in a draw, as Team Galactic retreats and fails their mission.
He appeared in DP096 and DP097, along with Cyrus, Jupiter and Mars. They stole the Lustrous Orb and the Adamant Orb from the Celestic Town museum.

In the games
Saturn is first seen leading the efforts of Team Galactic at Lake Valor near Pastoria City. He battles the player inside Azelf's cave and reveals that Mars is at Lake Verity.
After the events at the Spear Pillar (which Saturn was not present for), he can be found in the Galactic Veilstone Building, contemplating what direction to take Team Galactic in after Cyrus has disappeared; he was apparently never aware of Cyrus's grander plot. However, he learned that "extremism is never the solution".

Saturn's role in Team Galactic is to raise funds for their projects and he has the permission of Cyrus to use any means he feels necessary. Saturn decided to kidnap Platina for a ransom, as she is the daughter of the wealthiest family in Sinnoh, but his attack at the Lost Tower was thwarted by her real bodyguards. Furious, Saturn told his grunts to block Route 210 and force her to visit Veilstone City so that he can have his revenge.

Trivia
- There are many ongoing arguments in the fandom over Saturn's Toxicroak in the anime. While some people believe it is a Template:Shiny2 species, other people claim that merchandise depicting the alternate-color Toxicroak is evidence that the anime considers the alternate-color Toxicroak to be the normal coloration.
- Saturn is the only Team Galactic Commander whose Spanish name wasn't changed to correspond to a different planet; Jupiter's and Mars's names were changed to correspond to planets with names of Roman goddesses (Ceres and Venus, respectively).
- Saturn is the lieutenant Commander of Team Galactic, meaning he is of a higher rank than Jupiter and Mars and his immediate superior is the Galactic Boss, Cyrus.
- Saturn is the Commander the player will battle the least in Platinum.
