Qwilfish (Japanese: ハリーセン Harysen) is a Water/Poison-type Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
Qwilfish is a small, round fish Pokémon covered in many sharp spikes. These spikes are derived from its scales. It has a paddle-shaped tail which is about half of its body length. The top of its body is a bluish color, while its underbelly is a pale cream color.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
The spines that cover its body are filled with a toxin which is known to cause fainting. It is able to fire these spines from its body by swallowing large amounts of water. This ability also makes this Pokémon appear bigger than it actually is, making it less vulnerable to predator attacks.

Trivia
- Qwilfish is compatible with the Generation III Move Tutor for Swords Dance, but is incompatible with the TM in Generation IV that teaches the same move.
- Qwilfish's name is probably the most misspelled out of all Pokémon names (commonly misspelled as "Quilfish").
- Qwilfish shares the same species name with Jigglypuff's evolutionary family and Drifloon. They are all known as Balloon Pokémon.
Origin
It is most likely based on a porcupinefish or pufferfish.
Name origin
Qwilfish's name is a combination of quill and fish. Its Japanese name could be a contraction of 針千本 harisenbon, porcupinefish.
An early version of Qwilfish was called Bukū, which is probably a corruption of 河豚 fugu, pufferfish.
