Poké Portal News (Japanese: ポケポータルニュース Poké Portal News) is a feature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that expands on the available Tera Raid Battles in the Paldea region, making certain Pokémon more common for a limited time. It can be accessed via Mystery Gift or updated automatically by connecting to the internet in game. Certain species of Terastal Pokémon, some of which are rare, or otherwise unobtainable except via transfer, are made more common through Poké Portal News events.
Beginning in v2.0.1 of Scarlet and Violet, it became possible for event Mass outbreaks to occur via Poké Portal News as well, causing certain species of Pokémon to appear more commonly in Mass Outbreaks, which may have unique traits, such as a higher chance of having a specific Mark.
Tera Crystals and Mass Outbreaks associated with a Poké Portal News event will have a thicker, circular glowing border compared to their typical icons on the map and minimap. Event Tera crystals will additionally be surrounded by several ring-shaped auras when approached.
List of Mass Outbreak events
The following lists, in reverse chronological order, different Mass Outbreak events. The event periods for the given dates typically last between 00:00 UTC on the initial date, to 23:59 UTC on the end date, unless otherwise stated. However, if an event is active in the player's savefile, it will continue to be active until the player connects online, or updates their Poké Portal News after the event period ends.

The Pokémon Day Mass Outbreak event banner
In celebration of Pokémon Day, the 8th Mass Outbreak event will feature several species that resemble Poké Balls. The event will cause Voltorb, Foongus, and, rarely, Hisuian Voltorb* to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea.[1]
Additionally, the Pokémon that will appear have a flat 0.5% bonus chance to be Shiny. This 0.5% bonus is applied separately, before conditions that affect Shiny chance, such as Shiny Power from Sandwiches or the Shiny Charm.[2]

Version-Exclusive event banner
The 7th Mass Outbreak event featured several version exclusive species which could each be encountered in Paldea. The event caused Gulpin, Stunky, Skrelp, and Clauncher to appear in Mass Outbreaks across Paldea.[3]
Typically, Stunky and Skrelp only natively appeared in Pokémon Scarlet, with Gulpin and Clauncher only natively appearing in Pokémon Violet.
Additionally, the Pokémon that appeared had a flat 5% bonus chance to have the Uncommon or Rare Marks, granting them the titles the Sociable or the Recluse respectively. This 5% bonus was unaffected by Title Power from Sandwiches.
Unlike prior events, which mark a Pokémon was more likely to generate with differed between Scarlet and Violet:
- In Scarlet, Stunky and Skrelp received a bonus for the Uncommon Mark, with Gulpin and Clauncher's bonus being applied to the Rare Mark.
- In Violet, Gulpin and Clauncher received a bonus for the Uncommon Mark, with Stunky and Skrelp's bonus being applied to the Rare Mark.
