Basurao have two different appearances: one has a red stripe and iris, with a round eye; the other has a blue stripe and iris, with a slit eye. The two different kinds do not get along. Other than apparence, the only difference between the two is ability—the red form has Reckless while the blue form has Adaptability.

Trivia
Origin
Basarao were most likely inspired by betta fish. Both sexes of betta display horizontal bars of color either when frightened or setting up a pecking order and are very violent and can even fight to the death. Its appearance may have been based on a bass or pirahna, which is also violent.
Name origin
Its name is probably a combination of バス Basu, bass, and バカラオ Bakarao, bacalhau, salt cod.
