Seaside Station
Hotel Coumarine
There is a monorail that will take the player to the city's Pokémon Center and the Pokémon Gym from the seaside.
Kalos hotels
On the second floor of Hotel Coumarine, a group of travelers will rotate in and out of the rooms. Any of the travelers not at Hotel Coumarine on one day may be found at the hotels in Camphrier Town, Ambrette Town, Cyllage City, Geosenge Town, and Couriway Town.

Hillcrest Station
Six travelers will rotate among the first room on a six-day cycle: a Hiker, a Waiter, a Madame, a Maid, a male Tourist, and a Backpacker (in that order); as the player talks to these travelers on different days (at any hotel), they will gradually open up to the player. A female Tourist who gives out Ribbons will also occupy the second room every Sunday and Thursday.
There is a monorail that will take the player to the city's seaside from the hillcrest part of the city.

The Game Director also occupies the third room and will ask the player to show him their Pokédex once it is complete. He will give out Diplomas for completing the Central Kalos, Coastal Kalos, Mountain Kalos, Kalos, and National Pokédexes.

Seaside and Hillcrest Stations
A monorail will take the player between the seaside and hillcrest halves of the city.

Hillcrest cliff
In the hillcrest side of town, after defeating the Champion, Tierno can be found on the cliffs overlooking the monorail tracks. Each day, he will ask to see a Pokémon with a dance moves, asking for a specific one at random. If the player shows him one, he will give a Heart Scale.

The moves Tierno will ask to see are:

In the anime
In the anime, Coumarine City is very much like its in-games counterpart. The city is divided into two sections that are connected by a monorail, but it is also possible to travel between them without the monorail by way of a path that goes over a hill that is largely devoted to Ramos's Grass Pokémon ranch. Also, the Pokémon Center is located in the southern part of the city.
Ash and ashfr arrived in Coumarine in Thawing an Icy Panic!, where they met the Leader of the Coumarine Gym, Ramos, after Clemont accidentally crashed through the gate of his ranch and startled his Victreebel. Later on, a snowstorm was caused by a Vanillish and a Vanilluxe. The two Ice Pokémon were angry because their friend Vanillite had been captured by TRT. Fortunately, Ramos was able to calm them down by using his Jumpluff and Sunflora to melt the snow before assisting Ash and his friends in defeating Team Rocket.
In The Green, Green Grass Types of Home!, Ash had a Gym battle against Ramos and his Jumpluff, Weepinbell, and Gogoat and won with his Fletchinder, Hawlucha, and Frogadier. This victory earned Ash the Plant, his fourth Kalos League Badge overall.
In Under the Pledging Tree!, the group visited a special tree called the "Pledging Tree" (Japanese: 誓いの樹 Vow Tree) during the annual Coumarine City Festival and gave each other presents. Ash also tried to caught a wild Dunsparce, but failed since he was out of Poké Balls.
In A Showcase Debut!, Serena and Jessie made their debut as Pokémon Performers in the town's Pokémon Showcase Rookie Class. However, they both lost in the Theme Performance. Shauna, who also entered the event, was the most voted Performer of the round and was declared the winner of the competition. The next day, Serena decided to change her look by shortening her hair and changing her outfit. After the group's stay in Coumarine City, they left for Ash's Gym battle with Clemont at the Lumiose Gym.

Trivia
Trivia
* Coumarine's Japanese motto is 海辺と 高台が 連なる 街 "The city where shore meets bluff".
* An NPC in the house where the player can obtain a Poké Toy will play a remastered version of An Unwavering Heart (Japanese: 揺れぬ想い) from Black and White's soundtrack. The song is called How About a Song? "An Unwavering Heart" in the English release of Pokémon X and Y's soundtrack. This NPC is likely a representation of Shota Kageyama, who was the leader of the sound team for Pokémon X and Y, as well as the composer of "An Unwavering Heart".
* An NPC in the house where the player can obtain a Escape item will play a remastered version of An Unwavering Heart (Japanese: 揺れぬ想い) from Black and White's soundtrack. The song is called How About a Song? "An Unwavering Heart" in the English release of Pokémon X and Y's soundtrack.
* This is the only settlement in the Pokémon world to consist of two geographically separate sections.
* This is the only location that has a hotel where Mr. Bonding is instead found in the Pokémon Center. This is because the Coumarine Hotel room where Mr. Bonding would appear is occupied by the Game Director.

Hotel Coumarine

Main article: Kalos hotels

On the second floor of Hotel Coumarine, a group of travelers will rotate in and out of the rooms. Any of the travelers not at Hotel Coumarine on one day may be found at the hotels in Camphrier Town, Ambrette Town, Cyllage City, Geosenge Town, and Couriway Town.

Each day, he will ask to see a Pokémon with a dance move, asking for a specific one at random. If the player shows him one, he will give a Heart Scale.

The moves Tierno will ask to see are:

Move Type Cat.

Coumarine City in the anime

In the anime, Coumarine City is very much like its in-game counterpart. The city is divided into two sections that are connected by a monorail, but it is also possible to travel between them without the monorail by way of a path that goes over a hill that is largely devoted to Ramos's Grass-type Pokémon ranch. Also, the Pokémon Center is located in the southern part of the city.

Ash and his friends arrived in Coumarine in Thawing an Icy Panic!, where they met the Leader of the Coumarine Gym, Ramos, after Clemont accidentally crashed through the gate of his ranch and startled his Victreebel. Later on, a snowstorm was caused by a Vanillish and a Vanilluxe. The two Ice-type Pokémon were angry because their friend Vanillite had been captured by Team Rocket.

This victory earned Ash the Plant Badge, his fourth Kalos League Badge overall.

In Under the Pledging Tree!, the group visited a special tree called the "Pledging Tree" (Japanese: 誓いの樹 Vow Tree) during the annual Coumarine City Festival and gave each other presents. Ash also tried to catch a wild Dunsparce, but failed since he was out of Poké Balls.

Trivia

 • An NPC in the house where the player can obtain a Poké Toy will play a remastered version of An Unwavering Heart (Japanese: れぬい) from Pokémon Black and White's soundtrack.
 • This is the only settlement in the Pokémon world to consist of two geographically separate sections.
 • This is the only location that has a hotel where Mr. Bonding is instead found in the Pokémon Center. This is because the Coumarine Hotel room where Mr. Bonding would appear is occupied by the Game Director.

Origin

Coumarine City's real-life counterpart is likely Le Havre, the largest port in northern France.
