Dragon Darts (Japanese: ドラゴンアロー Dragon Arrow) is a damage-dealing Dragon-type multistrike move introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature move of Dragapult.

Effect

151Mew.png This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: How does it interact with Ally Switch when targeting an ally? Does substitute or Ice Face cause Dragon Darts to be redirected away from the Pokémon? If the user has Mold Breaker, will Dragon Darts take that into account when determining its targets? If both targets are immune, which one’s immunity is acknowledged?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Dragon Darts is a multistrike move that deals damage twice.

If targeting an opponent when there are multiple opponents, Dragon Darts' first strike targets the original target and its second strike targets the other opponent. If either the original target or its ally would take no damage from Dragon Darts, both strikes are directed at the other Pokémon instead. If Dragon Darts targets an ally, both hits will hit that ally. Wide Guard does not affect Dragon Darts.

The following reasons for taking no damage from Dragon Darts will cause it to target the other Pokémon:

If both target Pokémon are immune to Dragon Darts, only one of their immunity is acknowledged.

If one of Dragon Darts' strikes is redirected in order to avert a miss due to accuracy and evasion, this will activate the user's Blunder Policy (even if both strikes successfully hit the other Pokémon).

If an opponent is the center of attention (such as due to Follow Me), both strikes will target that Pokémon, even if it is immune to Dragon Darts.

If Dragon Darts targets a Pokémon that has Pressure, even if it was not the original target of the move, it still causes the move's user to lose additional PP.

In a Max Raid Battle, if used by the wild Pokémon, each strike targets two opponents individually, hitting one Pokémon first and then another Pokémon adjacent to the first target.

If the user has Prankster and calls Dragon Darts via a move that calls other moves, such as Copycat, and one of the targets is Dark-type, its type immunity is acknowledged properly and it hits the other target twice.

If a Focus Sash activates before the last strike is dealt, the following strike will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. A Focus Band can still activate repeatedly to prevent fainting, but each chance is independent. Sturdy will activate with each hit if the defending Pokémon has a maximum HP of 1.

Trivia

Dragon Darts when used by a Pokémon other than Dragapult
  • Dragon Darts has some unique animation traits in Generation VIII. The move's animation is different if:
    • The move is used by a Pokémon that is not Dragapult.
    • A Shiny Pokémon uses Dragon Darts, with the Dreepy also appearing as Shiny. It shares this distinction with Mind Blown and Syrup Bomb.
      • Due to the change in the move's animation going into Generation IX, it is no longer possible to see either of these differences.
